 Pat! I was going to send you a PM, then I thought NO! it is time that we spoke the truth here. Like you, I post a lot, I get in trouble sometimes. I will start this thread because I and I am sure some others would like to Know, WHAT do the locals really think of us. ahem! Foreigners! Pat, you have given so much for such a short period of time. NEVER worry what the NON believers think. AS I do, Never worry, it is those that have not lived will give the Crap and Bad attitude, Who cares, it is a forum for expression. You have given honest and down to earth expression of YOUR life, ME I like it. I make no secret that I admire you, you are and will be my friend and I just hope that those that matter will, just listen, Don't Judge and say oh well here is a man who knows where he has come from, knows where he is AND knows where he wants to BE. Pat. as we say in the UK, "You will do for me"
If an any of you have objections, ADRESS them to me, Leave PAT alone. He is the one person I can trust here.

there of course there are 1 or 2 more BUT this my day for this friend!

    Jack P.

    Denada!

Pat! Reading the latest Posts on the thread you started with regard perceptions, I think my Question has been answered already. It matters not as you say but Yesterday was a particularly bad day with regard to Foreigners in General, I just needed to Express an Opinion Outside your Thread.
If any one feels offended then I apologize.

    Jack P.

( Thanks for the PM I will answer during the Afternoon )

I asked a provocative question and received some open and insightful responses. I think I can summarize what we read so far by their saying, "be careful what you asked for, you might get it". Personally, I have been on both sides of the fence, for me, I like the side I am on now and the decisions made. (Wink)

LOL...PatO..we have more in common than you think...My first wife was Thai, and got US citizenship while we were married. It was hell on earth....she wasn't particularly bright and got in with the wrong crowd when we lived in the US. Gambling is rife amongst Thais and she was pretty good at losing my paychecks. Not to mention that Thais are slow on the uptake of the English language. If you like pidgin and sign language - marry one of them. Nearly every guy I knew married to a Thai - acted like he was stuck with a perpetual hemorroid. I took up a contract job in Saudi Arabia while we were in California just to get away from her. She didn't want anything to do with Saudi cause she heard gambling was very illegal. Sold the house before I left and put the contents in a secret location....LOL...went like clockwork. Got some grumbling from her legal fraternity - but told them to come and get me LOL...then got her car repossessed....Few years later married my present lovely wife I met thru my job in Saudi and it has all been very very good! Reality is though Filipinos love to gossip - it's a national pastime (another reason why my wife finds living there tedious) and couples like yours will be the topic from time to time. That's life in islands....grin and ignore it....I'm sure you're not complaining...
