Just wondering how much it costs in Dumaguete to pay for electricity if I have these these appliances: ref, 3 fans (2 is used almost 24/7), rice cooker, cable, tv, vhs (not used most of the time), 3 lights (1 is used 24/7), laptop (almost 24/7). In Manila, I pay about P1,500 per month for these. And we are only 3 persons and I pay about a hundred a month for water.

Also, what are the cable companies and how much is the range of the programs/packages with HBO? I assume a high speed internet connection and/or phone would cost at least a thousand.

    Thanks for any reply.

I have a ref, 3 fans (only 1 of which is usually on during the day, usually 2 at night, and the 3rd only when visitors sleep over), electric hotplate and rice cooker each used about 2x a week, TV and DVD player but neither used that much, desktop computer going about 20 hours a day, and only 2 lights used much at all. Sounds similar to your usage, and my bill is generally around P1500 a month.

I have skycable's internet. About p1000 a month. Average 100kbs despite supposedly being a 1mbs connection. Globe costs about the same, last I knew, include a landline, and is faster. But they're less reliable and have about the worst customer service you can find anywhere.

Skycable's channels are just ok. Includes HBO. Costs around P350 a month, if I remember right.

I think the water company here has a minimum charge of around P125. I pay that one several months in advance, and so don't pay much attention to it.

    thanks

hi dodong, thank you for the reply, i'm assuming that the electric bills are pretty much the same where we are now and in dumaguete but the skycable seems to be lower there cz i pay for a package for skycable of about 700 plus hbo of 300 plus a few channels my sons like so i spend P1250 for it per month. It seems cheaper cz in the 700 package they have, it doesnt include hbo and its important thats why we had to add about 300 for it.

I agree that Globe doesn't have good customer service as we have experienced it too. What other ISPs are available in dumaguete aside from skycable and globe? Here in manila i pay P1299 for 750 kbps internet and unlimited local landline.

water charges start at P200. That's their base rate and a little expensive. Electricity here is definitely cheaper vs Manila. That's according to my experience.

I would suggest that you check FilProducts cable company. They're definitely cheaper than Sky Cable.

Internet, I use Globe. PLDT is already here. Same rate with Manila.

After going digital, Fil Products is now more expensive than Sky Cable. It's P410 for the basic subsciption (that includes HBO), and it's a lot of channels, but most are crap. To get the cool channels (FOX, FOXCrime, FX, AXN Beyond, History Channel, etc.), you have to get the premium subscription which is at P610. Most of these channels are available on the regular SkyCable subscription. (I'm not sure how much that is, but around P400, I believe.) If SkyCable goes digital, this situation might change, tho.

What is the best cell phone company in Dumaguete. Do they have good reception? What is the cost?

    Will be there in April!!

    Thanks,

It is still cheaper there because in Manila, a P700 plus subscription does not include HBO yet that's why I pay P1,250 per month (includes the few channels my sons like to include).
