I came to Dumaguete the last week of November - sorry that I missed your Fiest Day. I was there for only four day, but I had a wonderful time and met so many nice people! I have heard a lot about retirement in the Philippines and in my research I came upon information about Dumaguete and what a wonderful place it is - my short visit confirmed that information is true:smile: I hope to retire in the next several years and I want to visit Dumaguete as many times as I can to become better acquainted with the city and the people there.

Just keep in mind that anywhere looks good when you're only there a week. I'd come back for at least 6mos, maybe more before you sell the farm..

I've known plenty of people who made short visits, moved to PI, then left to go home. I've been told if you can stay longer than 5yrs, you're in the minority.

There are only about 3-5 towns of any size on the entire island btw..

    Visit to Dumaguete

I agree, a longer visit is needed - unfortunately, I'm still working:( I plan to return this coming year and stay for 2 weeks. I'm hoping to learn more about life there and make some friends. Thanks for the input:smile:
