I am wondering if it's possible to go to Balinsasayao from Dumaguete City in the morning and back by lunchtime?

I just want to take some pics there before I go home by afternoon. :D

    How do I get there?

Personally I didn't think it was worth the trip when we went, - neither did my wife.

The turn was left off that section of highway up past Dream Park where the street lights line the road for about a mile as I recall.

    really? hmmm...
But i thought the twin lakes are one of the best spots in Dumaguete..

Have you been to the south? Siaton? If the twin lakes is not really that "awesome", would you recommend the beaches in the south instead? :D

Hard to say, there may not be much difference between one beach and another? Other than the event of taking the trip itself.

I've been to Siaton and further many times, but didn't try the beaches.

Well go investigate Twin Lakes for something to do; why not? It was about 6km off the hwy I think on good roads. We rented a scooter for the trip. I come from a county in the US where we had 300 lakes, so maybe seeing a lake wasn't such a big deal?

Yes, it is possible. Also you might want to visit the lake when it's not rainy season and the water is lower. During wet season, the water gets too high and it submerges a good part of the surrounding area.

I love mtns & lake myself; even more than beaches. We went to Balinsasayao just last weekend, enjoyed it very much. About a hour each-way on the 12-km crappy road (much better doing it in an EasyRide than on motorbikes!). I have a bunch of photos up from our trip, perhaps complementary to those on the Pictoral that Rhoody posted. Enjoy: Balinsasayao Twin Lakes National Natural Park in Negros Oriental
I can highly recommend a day-visit to this Park, tho perhaps it's not as great as Balanan Lake up from Siaton (which has a fine hotel & much-better restaurant).

If you walk around to the left of the lake and around it, you will see showers/CR made to look like natural boulders, the concrete steps are covered in moss and may be a little slippery...keep going until you reach the lookout. Look in the water and you will see large archer fish, it will take you maybe 30 minutes or so to get around. Climb up the lookout tower and you can sleep there or camp. Its peaceful and good for a picnic get away. You can rent a bunka or kayak to get there if you dont feel like walking. I guess your outing is what you make of it. It may be boring for some, but I agree with Rhoody, good company makes it a worthwhile trip no matter how boring it is. There is a restaurant there now as well if you wish to dine there....Enjoy your trip if you decide to visit Jake, otherwise the BEST place to visit is Palaypay Falls. I always go there frequently...look it up on youtube.....visit there before it gets too crowded and popular!
