    Have anyone (and their wife) had the experience of using Silliman Hospital for the complete pregnancy to birth process? If so, any comments or suggestions? Thank you.

    Thanks Jack. Yes, she was late so she took the pg test last Thursday and it came out positive. She had appts with Dr. Uy at Silliman before so we rushed in to see her, she ordered the usual tests, then took us through the ultrasound test and we heard and saw the baby's (fetus) heartbeat. Crislyn is due Sept. 18. We will go through the whole process at Silliman, not sure what that consists of.

    Thanks, Pat! My wife just told me she has Dr. Daphne Rana at Silliman, and she likes her very much. A friend of hers had her during her pregnancy and referred my wife to her.

    My wife says for the 1st seven months there is a monthly check up. Ultra sound wasn't for 3-4 months. Month 8 the check up is every two weeks. Month 9 every week. For delivery they want the woman to be freshly shaved.:D

    A heartbeat and visible ultrasound at 1 month? You are going to have one huge baby! :D

    Here were my expenses for my daughters delivery at Silliman. Note the C section. 3/4 of that cost factor I would guess for normal delivery.

    Operating Room $85.00
    OBGYN Fee for C Section $610.00
    Anesthesiologist $292.00
    Hospital room for three nights $161.00
    Medicines $300.00

    Total = $1,448.00

    Our OBGYN was Dr. Nailani Tan and she was great

    Here is my Diary Entry for the day leading up to and the day of delivery:

    We went to see Dr. Tan today as she intimated that today she might need to induce Lynn. However, things took major turn when we did the ultrasound and it was determined that Alex had not yet turned and more importantly she is expected to come out between 7 and 8 pounds. Now the prospect of a caesarian appears to be the delivery method of choice. Dr. Tan suggested we check into the hospital tonight and see what happens by mid-morning tomorrow. Hopefully, Alex will have turned and labor start and we still have the chance of a natural delivery. Nevertheless, we don't want to kid ourselves and it appears even under the best of outcomes that Alex we come by way of caesarian. It would not be fair to put Lynn through the agony of delivering Alex at this size and weight.
    Lynn was taken to the Labor Room early this morning around 7:00am and Dr. Tan determined that the contractions were coming faster and warranted delivery. The problem was the estimate on Alex's weight and it was decided as suspected Caesarian would be the delivery method. Lynn was taken to the operating room for the c section. Unfortunately, I was not permitted in during the procedure but I was fortunate enough to find a surgical nurse who would take photos for me.
    Alexandra Victoria came into this world at 8:26am Philippine time. She was exactly 7 lbs. and was 19.68 inches in length.

    Congratulations on the birth of your daughter. What an experience! My wife may require a Caesarian as well, given my son from a prior was 8-3, and she is small. Thank you for sharing your costs. Of course having a healthy child and wife is pricesless. Best of luck for a rapid recovery for all.
