    Rush Job!

 OH! Hi rayjen, Jack P. here sending a big welcome to DI. The Phrase RUSH JOB! has given me a shudder down my Spine, As others have said Please read all you can here, One thing we have all learned from our experiences in the PI is, The Administration do not like to be rushed. I am going to ask probably an obvious question, have you got that all important CNI? If you are coming on your Passport, the 20 (21) days may not be enough time to do this. Pat, Me and a few others had some surprises on various issues on marrying our loved ones and we have been here some of us, for some time. The Thing with the CNI is it only lasts 3 months if my memory serves me right. You say you had originally wanted to marry in the UK. Can i suggest you check the dates on the CNI as you may have to re-apply, that will incur an extension. I do hope that you can cover all bases on the paperwork, Good luck, We are here, if there is anything we can tell you to help you along the way.

Hi all, thanks once again for all your replies & advice. I am going to try & get married within the 16 days I will be spending in dumaguete. I realise this is a tight time scale & doesn't leave any room for any unforseen hitches. I wil arrive in Cebu on Saturday 12feb on 14feb we have an appointment at British consulate to change cni to local version. we leave Cebu for dumgte on 14feb, 15feb we will take marrige seminar & submit documents for wedding license. They will release licence on 25feb & we marry on 26feb. The documents I will bring are: cni, passport, original birth cert, late wifes death cert, cenomar. For my fiancé:Original passport, original nso birth cert, cenomar. Doesn't leave much time for honeymoon but we're hopefull our goal of getting married can be accomplished.

    Quickie Marriage

    Rayjen,
Maria and I got hitched on my 21 day visa. I had a 10 day wait, which gave us time to get comfortable with each other and get the wedding planes well on the way. I got to skip the marriage seminar, because MIL worked in city hall and she got it singed off for us. We wed on the 11th. day and had a wonderful honey moon for 10 days. I left Maria (in Manila) on the 22 day and Maria went back to Dumaguete. I was expecting to pay a fine for the 1 day overstay on the visa but they let me pass with a congrats on the marriage. Maria joined me in Alaska just under 4 months later. That my friends was 23+ years ago. We retired here last June 22, 2010.
So I know it is posable to do a quickie marriage.
I hope your marriage turns out as well as our has.
P.S. keeping secrets from the in-laws is NOT POSABLE! Invite their help, they are you best source for help.

Hi jim, I certainly hope my wedding goes as smothly as yours seems to have! & more importantly I hope the marrige is as sucesfull as yours ( wow 21 years) congratulations on your retirement. I hope your enjoying life in Valencia! My fiancée family are not to far from there & when I was overthere we hired a motorbike & drove around Valencia. I remember it been a beautifull place, very green with really fresh air.

Rayjen, we will all be cheering for you to make the dates happen. All we can suggest is to have a Plan B, just in case. Stuff happens here with paperwork, due dates... Who will perform the marriage? My date had to be changed twice because of the person performing the marriage.... Sounds like you are well-prepared so good luck, again, let us know if we can be of any assistance.

Thanks pato! Very pleased I stumbled on this forum! People so friendly! Yep Im hoping we've got all the bases covered but you never know what could crop up! Luckly for me my fiancé is not only beautifull but bright as a button & very good at organising. My fiancé is arranging a judge who she knows to perform the wedding & if he can't she will ask the mayor whose good friends with her father. They seem well connected. Shame we can't get around the marrige seminar, but hay ho, when in Rome!

The mayor is the one who performed our ceremony but had reschedule a couple of times. Once you are married, it takes a while to get all the paperwork from NSO to you back to the records office etc. I went crazy with the process and I didn't have a schedule because I have a permanent visa, except I had a reception planned with folks traveling internationally to attend. I ended up having the wedding on a Thursday and the reception on a Saturday because the mayor couldn't perform on Saturday, so my out of town friends missed the wedding. By the way, Atmosphere Resort is a great place to spend time at, we had our night before and wedding night parties there, reception at Casablanca. Let me know if any of us can be of further assistance.

Once we are married pato we will apply for a settlement visa & Jen will join me here in London. We realise this takes time! She is at present looking into resorts & restos. It will probably be a fairly small wedding with just close family members so the budjet should stretch to somewhere nice. I'll mention the 2 places you recomended, thanks. I think she spoke about somewhere called bravo golf resort, but will look at more this week.
