Hi everyone, not long now untill I arrive in dumaguete for my wedding. I would like to bring some gifts for the family & was wondering if anyone could recommend anything? I will bring some over the counter medicine & also some hair products. The future father in law enjoyed the English marmalade I brought last time & some shortbread for mother in law. Was wondering if there's anything cheaper here in the uk or things that are just difficult to get hold of overthere? Your recomendations would be gratfully received.

    Children!

 Definitely Chocolate if children are concerned. Don't bother with Cigarettes, they are cheap enough and they are not keen on light tobacco here. Good soap, Pears, Lux and Dove are a favorite. What ever, include all the household. (Don't forget the helpers if you want to make an impression) Ask your GF about the dislikes, I fell foul once with inappropriate Gifts.

Children's multivitamins are good. Topical antibiotic first aid ointment also, because it's extremely over-priced here. High memory USB's are also much cheaper abroad than here.

If available in UK, a triple-antibotic cream. Neosporan is one in the US plus there are generics available there. They don't seem to know what that is here in the pharmacy.

Out of all of the many things I have given my wife and her family, two made a big impression.

One was a microwave I bought on my second day here. The cheapest version with only a simple turn-type dial (minimum learning curve). They can't live without it now.

The other thing was a simple bunch of flowers from a street vendor. I bought them and handed them to my shocked wife who started crying. Nobody had ever given her flowers before.

And, I don't know why, but I had a large collection of Harley-Davidson t-shirts that I gave to friends and relatives that were a very big hit here.

Of course, anything you bring will be greatly appreciated.

Don't forget a pocket full of one peso coins for all of the children.

And if you decide to bring things for your friends on this site, I'll take a Super Wal-Mart, a Home-Depot and an Auto Zone. Lol

Not to sound soft or mushy, and I hope my friends here don't accuse me of being so, but the number one gift you can give your future wife and her family is love and devotion.
They place a very high value on that here.
