:smile: Ron I cannot see anyone disagreeing with that one at all. Mushy thoughts and actions are what is lacking in a lot of marriages to-day. Carry on my friend

Just bring the whole family to a local supermarket and buy them a cartload.Let them choose whatever they want (limit them to foodstuffs only). That will set you back 100-150 pounds.

Thanks guys! so, on the list: multivitimins, antiseptic cream, chocolate, quality soaps & lotions. Might bring some touristy things from London as well. I like the microwave idea, not sure if the family have one. As for the flowers, that reminds me of the time I brought some flowers home for jen, wow, the excitment!! jumping up & down!! Your right! Sometimes it's the simple things!

Unless you future brides family is different than most I have met, they don't have a microwave. I think the one I bought is only one of maybe three in our barrio of 5,000.
I actually bought two. One for her family that was the simplest I could find and cost 5,100 pesos. The second one was a larger programable one for us, with a browning feature like I had in the US and it was 9,400 pesos.
With all due respect, heating water for coffee over a wood fire in the morning really sucks.

Hi ronv8917, yep your right, just checked no microwave ,so that could be on list of things to get once in dumaguete. I also remember on my last visit how everything is handwashed. I'm wondering on the visability of a washing machine. Obviously I don't want to go in there acting like lord of the manor, but getting something that would make life a bit easier for them has got to be a good thing? They are such nice people!

Hi, definitely chocolate, Toblerone being a favourite, Dove soap is a must, painkillers such as Panadol or Anadin and antiseptic creams such as Canesten (it cured my heat rushes) are also a good idea....multivitamins are also popular, cooling bags (gel ice packs) are also a good idea, T shirts with fancy logos are well received. My advice is start small and get to know your inlaws first before going overboard buying stuff such as microwave and especially washing machine, they might still prefer the old ways and you'd just waste your money.
I remember buying a fridge/freezer to my wife's relatives only for them using it as a cupboard as "electricity is expensive......".

Again, I can only relate to my barrio, but I thought about a washing machine and decided against it. People here are very generous and neighbors share. My thought was that a washing machine would be used 24 hours a day by the whole neighborhood. So I decided it was a bad idea. I could imagine waking up at 2am hearing the washing machine and having my wife say "oh, that's our neighbor washing her clothes" lol
