Is there a place near the airport to rent a scooter?
If not, how to get to a rental agent.
My brother in law and I are planning on flying to Dumaguete in July and I am trying to gather all the info I need now, so I will be ready for (almost) anything when we arrive.
I have been thinking that if the hotel picks us up, maybe they can direct us from the hotel, but really would rather ride around on a scooter for a bit before checking in.

If you are staying downtown Dumi, I would consider checking in and dropping off my luggage first. After that you can pick up a rental form that point. There are quite a few motorbike rentals all within walking distances from most downtown hotels. If you are staying in a resort outside, that is a different story. There are many ways to get from the airport to your destination, cheapest, walking out of the airport to the highway and jumping on a bus or tricycle. More expensive, take a taxi. Otherwise, you can have your hotel pick you up. If you want a specific rental place, I am sure someone else on the forum has a number for one.

went there a month ago, maybe the owner was not there, my eperience very unfriendly and expensive. 125cc scooter 400 peso/day - 10k deposit, that is a joke. went to the place downtown recommended here, 200/day no deposit.

I would't pay 400 for a scooter either, but they got some nice bikes on their website which seemed reasonable priced and not really available anywhere else, which gained my interest for some rougher rides soon

Don't know the owner very well, but I suspect one gets what one pays for, as is usual in this country, on the P200/day ones, is there any insurance?

I get mine actually for less than 200/day and fairly new.The Insurance for a 125cc here area joke, good luck when claiming something (at least in my personal experience)

what I get is a great service. They got me in a traffic control and said something about the registration. I called the bike-rental, handed the officer the key an drove with a trike to the station to pick up another one.

No Idea how they sorted it, actually don't care, I had no problems and paid nothing at the control and/or rental station.

Later I found out that the registration problem was caused by me as I did not exchange the scooter on the day they told me to (when it expired)... they still did not make a big thing out of it...

That experience always jumps into my mind when I go to local restaurants, shops etc and listen to "sorry Sir", "for a while sir", "maybe next time sir".

Occasionally if the moon is parallel to the 7th house of Pluto and you are at the right time at the right place there is a slight chance to get things working and done here...
