After 7 months with I.T. Quest I quit them for not being able to solve their problems. I soon realized that I was paying 4 times the money for 20% of the service of what I was getting in Alaska. After that RIPE-OFF experience with Smart and IT Quest, we were going to try PLDT. I looked up PLDT’s website only to discover that they and Smart were one of the same. So we filled out an application with Globe. I’m really beginning to wonder if there is such a thing as a good I.S.P. on this Island. From PLDT website; “...and retail broadband customers of PLDT and wireless subsidiary Smart Communications Inc.” I will be off line until we get something else. Hopefully it will be acceptable.
We had Smart for 3 years, then switched to Globe a year ago. After one horrible year with Globe, we are trying to get on the new PLDT line supposedly available, if not, we will go back with Smart. MUCH better service up here than than Globe. Larry
Globe has the worst customer service of any company I've ever dealt with. Currently I use skycable for internet. It's 10% the speed they claim, but reliable enough that I've never had to find out what their customer service is like.
Unhappy to hear Globe service is bad, it may be the lesser of three evils available to me in my part of Bacong. I currently have a SmartBro attached modem which is extremely slow when I can get a signal and not lose it. I also have a Globe attached modem but get no signal here, not at the Rob Mall either, only worked when I tried it at the Globe office. If and when I get Noreco power lines, I will have the option to go with Globe internet which Globe can use their poles. What type of Globe service problems are you experiencing? Thanks
I did not encounter any Globe problems this year. Early mid last year it was bad, but next to a bit slower from Friday evening to Sunday evening (still more than ok for all tasks I do with 60 websites plus chatting and downloading) I have no complaints this year so far (knock on wood). Having a number of a tech (on the road and in their center helps) Last year a quick txt or call helped many times and their in-house tech reset the connection and all was good again. Their "on the road techs" need the priority number. If you call the hotline and get one (after 20 minutes waiting - the only time I use the speaker in the phone) You can txt it to the tech, and most of them are happy to drop by for a few peso pocketmoney after their scheduled work. speed/quality? well I have no clue about computer, 700mb movie is 1hr40min download even I work my normal stuff online. I also make voi-calls to europe without any issues. I was ranting about them, but since a few month absolutely no problem.
Pldt Globe would not, and I mean they REFUSED, to get internet at our place, even though next door neighbors have Globe, so we were forced to get the only other viable option, Smart Bro wi-fi modem (it was awful, but gave us internet at least). Then, in December we were liberated and we got PLDT internet...We are VERY happy campers!! We signed up for the 2 mb plan and we are consistently getting over 3 mb, even at high peak times!! I would say not to be shy to sign up with PLDT. Here is a screenshot of my speedtest I just performed. Good Luck!!
my 2nd neighbor got "refused" by globe. Why ? well, he came too late ( 2 years after I got it) and they simply had no line for him. That makes much more sense than IT Quest formerly IT Outlook which have a lousy backbone but try to sell and share it that the bits only dripping through the wire... IMHO opinion even a great service of Globe, not to cut down all other paying customer in bandwidth just to sell... As PLDT is pretty new with little customer numbers it is normal that you get a good speed now. enjoy as long as you can. That will change when they get a more business.
Pldt/globe EXACTLY the reason we were given by Globe!! Anyway, I am going to remain cautiously optimistic that our speed will remain good with PLDT, we had them in Manila and were very happy with them, there, too. I will still be happy if our speed drops to 2mb, because that is what we signed up for, so, if that happens, it will all still be good enough for me. For now, and hopefully for good, I will enjoy the 3mb we are getting.
I have Globe and am very happy with them. Speed is generally decent enough to watch you tube and other online video without buffering. Never had a problem reaching customer service and when I did got my issues resolved quickly. I will be moving to Dauin in about 16 months and can only hope that there is a respectable Internet down there by then or is there one now?????
