I just installed new Mile Marker hubs on our 4x4 last week. Went to a party at the local Atty's house and someone tried to steal them while we were parked in his yard...while his "parking Security" was only a few feet away. Ok I know but still it pissed me off. The hub is ok but they removed all 6 bolts on one side that anchor it to the wheel so 4 wheel function is out till they are replaced.

So what I need is a good place to start looking for replacement bolts preferably with security so that a special tool is needed to remove them. Any Ideas Guys and Gals?

    Where do I start looking?

That is a tough one. If it were mine, if nothing else I would look for philipps head or allen head screws of the right caliber, then fill the hole with epoxy. When time for removal came, simply cut a groove in for a screwdriver with a hacksaw or dremel tool, and replace them when done. You should be able to find allen head screws in some of the better auto parts stores (DAPCI, HVL, D'City, Robert)

    Good luck.

Thanks the original were allen head bolts. That is a good tip.

The funniest things about this is the original hubs are worth 8 times the manual replacement hubs I installed and no one looked twice at them. Course the new ones are shiny and chrome. I wonder if there is a black paint that will stick to them so I could make them not so noticeable?

I don't think they were trying to steel the hubs, just the hard to find bolts! :D

Found the hard to find Bolts at Dumaguete Auto Parts store. Found a sight on line that will make custom security lock steel machine screws. I may give them a call as they were very reasonably priced. They make the screws and the custom tool to use with them. If it works out I will let you guys know.

The only way a bad guy is getting one of these out is to cut off the head with a grinder....difficult to do without waking the neighborhood.
