All of this craziness makes me SICK, SICK, SICK!!

Superstition and religion. Everywhere. And it's killing us. If it's not the Catholics, it's the Muslims. If not those two, then the Hindus or the Sikhs. Or the whole earth fanatics. I'm gonna put up twenty foot high guard towers on the corners of my property and shoot on sight anyone who looks even slightly religious..................!! Ooops. Guess I'm just as fanatical as all the rest of them. lol

    The real deal

OK, you sarcastic lot....this is how it works:
You are darn poor...solution: you produce many children so that between them they'll manage somehow to provide you with some comfort in your old age.
If you're in luck, a few of the offsprings will be girls so that they can work abroad and support the rest of the family by remitting money.
If they're lucky, they might even marry a long nose so ensuring a strong financial backup.
Drawback: you are poor and are possibly condemning your children to the same fate.....no money, no education, no job, many grandchildren because your children are following your example.....and it goes on and on.
The church will tell you that children are a God bless, so the circle goes on unabated.
Rich families = one/two children, good education, good job prospect, more money coming in, marrying only into same professional, high class society.
Filipino.....wake up!! The philippines population will increase 50% over the next 20 years.....None is paying taxes, how can the country meet the requirements of its growing population? It's a lost battle....:(
But hey, who am I to want to change the status quo....live and let live!!
    Welcome to paradise....

    Ask a Kid!

 Strange Thread if you think about it. Starts with the Church, Turns to money and even Politics. Do we ever think about the end result, THE KIDS? As a father of 4 (all Girls) A Grandfather of 6 (he he :D All Girls) I have a vested interest in the Thread. What do we do when we can't programme a Video, put the PC right, we ask a 10/11/12 year old to help. Well members, maybe we should ask what these little people think about this subject. I asked my 11 year Old daughter about contraception (I am not Catholic so subject NOT Taboo) She said mmmmm Dad, is it ok if I Decide whats best when I am ready! WHAT! can a dad ask for? A Kid that CAN & Does think for herself. Sometimes, we as Adults just think about the Outrages we See, Hear, Thrown on us. We never seem to think about the result of our FAILURE to think Ahead, Union Jack is right. We can't change the Status Quo BUT we can think ahead and with a little compassion and Forethought. ASK the kids of To-Day that are bright, they will tell you, it may suprise you But I know, YOU will smile at them!

    Baby boomers

Hi Jack, I sincerely do hope you're right and that future generations will be in a better position to see out the wrongs.
The church ought to relax its attitude towards family planning if it really wants a better future for the only roman catholic country in Asia.
I believe that when it comes to family planning, politics, money and church go hand in hand as one's decision may influence the others' response....
Politicians have tried for years to introduce family planning education, only to be categorically rejected by the Church.....and before anyone asks, I'm a Roman Catholic too.......

Year ago the government had a really nice program that taught women livelihood projects and gave them family planning education. A friend ask if he could run one of these seminars in a restaurant building I owned. I was impressed at this attempt to empower poor women. I was denounced from the pulpit several Sundays in a row as the evil foreigner corrupting the morals of the people.

This is just another example of why the Philippines is going backwards, and will continue that way.

The country can not even feed itself, its the biggest rice importer in the world.

I am writing this from Vietnam, (Nha Trang) very obvious there are fewer children around. Cost are generally lower, food, hotels, and service better.

    Wake up Philippines.

All your problems are self inflicted, you can not blame anyone but yourself.

The sad thing is we have just celebrated the Edsa Peoples Power Revolution. All it accomplished is to change the batting order around a little bit. Same line up of families running the game.
