⌛ Touring around Dumaguete City

Hello, I will be visiting Dumaguete alone for the first time this week, and I am quite excited for my trip. But I need help on my itinerary for my 4-day stay. I will be going to Dumaguete this Wednesday, and I'm still undecided where I should be going first.

I am planning to stay at hotel nicanor, and so far, my plan is to go to the belfry tower, rizal boulevard and silliman university. Then drop by robinson's place and sans rival.

But aside from that, what other places can I visit? I just want to maximize my stay since I will only be there for 3 full days, it will be a waste of time looking for places on the spot.

Hi Tim, Jack P. here saying hello, Dgte is not that big, When you have seen the things you have mentioned, That is about it. If you had transport of course there is a lot more, Valencia Holds a good view, Plenty of sea resorts, Forest camp is in it's self a good 1/2 day or so. 3 days is not really enough time to find your ideal thing. I am sure that whatever, the boulevard will hold your attention for eating. Anyway, Enjoy and I know this will not be your last Visit If you are a Diver then you will spoilt for choice.

Timdme, you didn't introduce yourself properly so hard to make recommendations. Where are you from, what are you doing in the PI.
Nevertheless, If you want a feel of the local culture, depending what time you arrive in the area, you could catch the Zamboangueta market which is a happending on Wednesday. You could have lunch on the way back at Mike's Beach Resort or El Dorado, catch an afternoon coffee at Sans Rival and check out our mall, then freshen up and have a nice dinner at one of the fine restaurants on the blvd. Lots of recommendations on the Forum in the Where to Eat thread, my favorite is Casablanca or if you want seafood head out to Santa Monica Beach Resort. Enjoy your stay.

Valencia and Siquijor

I stayed a bit longer and went to two places I recommend.

One is Valencia Falls. You meed to hire transportation to get there, and it requires a hard walk once you are there; but it is definitely worth it. Valencia town itself is a quaint place.

If you can extend your trip a bit I would also recommend Siquijor island. You need to take a boat from Dumaguete and once there you can stay in Marmarine hotel. Take a tour around the island to visit falls, and beautiful white sand beaches.

 

Thank you Jack for the information. I will be mainly staying within the city and probably explore the area. I will definitely enjoy food tripping as I've read through most of the threads in this forum and probably take lots of photos.

 

Hi Pat, I'm a 25-year old Filipino-Chinese from Manila, and booked a flight to Dumaguete just to de-stress just to start the month. I will be arriving by 9am in Dumaguete, so I can check the Zamboangueta market, I'll research about it in a while.

All that you've mentioned are quite interesting, and I guess I will have more than enough time to visit them during my stay.

A year ago when I went I found a nice restaurant on the right hand of the road from Valencia to Dumaguete (only 6 km between the two towns).

If you manage to go to Sikihor, the food in Marmarine is very good but after a couple of days you may want to try something else. There is a chicken place which is excellent and the Marmarine staff will orient you and arrange to take you there. The owners of Marmarine are delightful and extremely helpful.
