My friend from hawaii is here or nearby in oslob Cebu side,,He surfs in hawaii and bored easy in oslob with no waves,,he wants to go to surigao to surf and hes not highroller but income is dollars,,,how do we begin to get there to surigao from dumaguete and what do we expect to pay the boat ride there and are there cheap places to stay less than 1000piso a night? or is it so rural we just beach bum shack on the sand? All i know is where on the map surigao is,i dont even know how to surf on a board but my friend does and he wants to go with my help so help me help him..Thanks
So surigao is not directly routed to or from dumaguete by flight or boat..The ferry boats go direct from Cebu City and so do the flights of Cebu pacific and Air philippines(not the same as philippines airlines,I walked and spent hour in the wrong line to figure this out so trust me this time)....We bought air philippines ticket to surigao from Cebu Macatan INTL round trip and paid about php 2000.oo a piece,,not sure if its a WW II surplus prop plane hauling goats and chicken cargo but I was told they fly jets like Cebu Pacific which was priced only a bit higher than Air philippines...Philippines airline quoted php 13,000.oo or more for round trip...Any way soon to go to Surigao city and maybe truck down to Tagdan seeking surf as done in Hawaii..:D
There was a young foreigner trying to surf in the low waves in front of the blvd a year ago. He looked like a surfer, but in that shallow water I was afraid he was going to break a leg as he kept falling..
was that dumaguete boulevard shores or Surigao boulevard? I've never been to surigao before yet soon now...
Watch out for those nearshore sea urchins Tunji. Last time I was in Surigao I stepped on one of those pricks and the spines went right through my bootie and into my foot. Hatchi-wow-wow-mama, hurt like hell.
Once in a place called manzanillo in mexico I stepped on one ,got shallow embed spike and yes pain was exquisite but I've seen here there are colorful very long spiked urchins so indeed I no like to taste any them things in my foot......Is "Manzanita" based on the place in mexico??
