Hoping to be in Dumaguete next month and I'd like to pick up a pinuti/talibong. I don't mind getting a few hours outside the city if need be. Anyone know where the good pandays are in Negros Oriental? Thanks in advance!

I can't say where the best areas are at, sorry.

I can say that I picked up a very nice muslim kreis short sword. I paid 1,800 PhP years ago and when I got back to Florida I had it appraised at $ 400.00+ USD. I was not even looking for this item, yet near Silliman and Jo's chicken I happened upon a young traveler from Mindinao who was waiting in the general area. He wanted 2,000 PhP and I would have given him that but I told this young man, on my 2nd and final bid, that all I had was 1,800 pesos (honestly) and I was now leaving. He was a little reluctant but I guess he needed money as he had about 5-8 other really nice bladed items. The quality and workmanship of this double-edged kreis that I bought is remarkable.
I am not really into bladed weapons but I love my target shooting and hunting with my bang bangs.

Good luck if your really into looking for them. I can also guarantee you if you fly NW airlines they ask - "do you have any guns, knives or......". I said no, because it was a sword.... but it got yellow-lined security tape/straps just as soon as it went through their security scanner in Manila. I went thru Cebu with no problem, just FYI.

Hi and thanks for the response. Does your kris have a kalabaw horn handle? If so, what you have there is a Pangasinan-made kris sword. I have one in the living room I paid 1000 PHP for. They probably go for 400-500 in Pangasinan!

As for Customs issues--I'm in the Philippines every month and I always take some toys home. There's an art to it! lol. No yellow tape required for baggage to Hong Kong.

    Your welcome.
The handle is very fine hand made and appears to look like mahogany and it also resembles a horn shape. The Kris also has a few brass items. The blade is the best short sword that I have ever been offered for a buy.
Cool- enjoy your stay/visit and nice to meet you.
