Just read this here in the UK. I thought I would post a link as it has relevance to the Philippines in general and localy. BBC News - Coral reefs heading for fishing and climate crisis Take care all.
Well I can say that I have witnessed the Florida waters get overpopulated and massive build up also decimating mangroves and other pristine shallow water marine breeding areas. The waters of Terra Ceia and Tampa Bay used to be in much better shape. from link- "However, if we don't learn from these successes then I think that in 50 years' time, most reefs will be gone - just banks of eroding limestone, overgrown with algae and grazed by a small variety of small fish." One thing a lot of charter captains do here (Longboat Key, Bradenton beach, Holmes beach and Anna Maria Island) locally is to build their own private reefs for their customers.
