I get round trip just cause my airline wont sell one way to me and I need to return anyway,,But I get to manila twice now never checked me for it,they just looked passport,i even did declaration form on flight and listed my electronic equipment ,,any way at the counter the bored looking lady grabbed it,inked out my input, wadded it to crumple and handed it to me with a look at me for why I would put her through the hassle of a count..i think passport of origin determines how easy you get in.....

    Return ticket

Hi there. On all my trips to the Philippines, I always had a return ticket.
But since my first trip in 1987 until 2010. I never ever was asked to show any return ticket at arrival. But i always got one, because I had to go back home anywhy. But now I am retired and can stay loongtime. So next time I will have only one way ticket.

    well, I quote myself...

it has absolutely nothing to do with arriving in Manila or Cebu or anywhere else.

At the check in they can see what kind of ticket you have, either on your printed one, or when entering the data in their computer, so no need to ask.

It is a bit hard to believe, that an airline only issues with an return-ticket. there are thousands of backpackers traveling Asia with different airlines. did this years ago, flying to Manila with Gulf Air to PI fly back to europe from Indonesia with KLM

well then again, who knows what funny policy certain airlines have, all is possible

Mostly Asian airlines are strict on the (returnticket or out of country ticket)rule.
I was asked for by Cebu Pacific, Philippine air, Cathay Pacific and Malaysian, but also by British Airways(to Hong Kong with connection Cathay Pacific).
If you don't have a ticket they don't let you board the plane.
Or you will miss your flight (loose the money) or have to buy an expensive ticket in the airport.
As you can buy a trow away ticket for as low as 600 pesos it is not worth the trouble.
This trow away ticket might even be helpfull to avoid getting a visa in advance (transport cost to go to the embassy) if your ticket is within 21 days of arrival in the Philippines.

The airports in the US are the first ones to want to see your ticket taking you out of the Philippines. Not necessarily airports or customs in PI.

I really can't just head off to Jakarta etc willy-nilly. I'm on kidney dialysis so it'll be a throw away ticket for me

    A big NO NO!

 Guys and gals, if you are coming from Europe and you have not got the right Visa! and you have a Single (ONE WAY) ticket you will not get on the plane! IN FACT! you will not even get a single (One Way Ticket) unless you can state the Visa Type and Number. Bin there and tried to do that. As Rhoody said, they are getting stricter, It is not just where you are going BUT where you are coming from! Seems the Airlines have more knowledge than the Immigration Dept.

    You know what's really funny?
I didn't have an ongoing ticket when I landed in Manila 5 short years ago and wasn't told I needed one until I got off the plane and started the check in at the Immigration desk.
The man asked if I had one and I explained that I was marrying and staying in the Philippines.
He stamped my passport and sent me toward Customs.
I got to the man at the counter after a lengthy wait, he asked where I was from and told me to exit and thanked me for coming to the Philippines.
The shocker for me was that he never asked me if I had anything to declare and never so much as asked if he could look in my baggage.
