⌛ Aggradation/degradation

Based on topographic maps, beaches in the area of Ajong (Sibulan) were in the process of aggradation since at least the early 1900's. Since 2003/2004, degradation of the beaches has started. Plenty of cocconuts have been destroyed and a few meters of beach lost to the sea. Has anybody observed the same along others coastal areas, which would indicate possibly rising sea level? If not, this degradation of the coast line might be due to change of local subsidence or change of sea currents....Any comments. Thanks

Hi Makoy, Jack P. popping his head up, I think that if you research further, you may find, that this is and will be a Global thing to happen, I am in Spain just now, I went to friends for dinner on Tuesday, Tony,(My Friend) was showing me Photos of the area he lives in, in 2002, when he built his house, there was some 50 meters to the the Beach, it is now only 42, so in 9 years the sea has claimed 8 Meters. Many trees have been lost. Not sure if I totally understand Global Warming but there is no doubt that rising sea levels will claim more beach. In the 1980's the UK had big problems, Cliff Faces were being eroded and Houses and hotels were falling into the sea, The US had the same sort of thing happen. Since I settled in the PI, I have as many will have, seen Beaches lost, Trees gone, Ruined areas of beauty, It will be interesting and very Sad to see, what this current problem in Japan Yields on the Shorelines of the countries it affects. This is a shame as the PI has so many Beautiful Beaches, No matter what we do, Nature can be cruel.:(

It's happening all over the world...they are developing a major project to keep Pattaya Beach from disappearing in Thailand. My friend in the Bahamas had to build a major seawall so that his beachfront property would still have a beach...

 

The U.N. is actively looking for the drain plug, but hasn't found it yet, after years of searching and millions of dollars spent! :D

Thanks, I wish we could have such a hole to get rid of excess sea water, please dont plug....

I was more interested in any observations along the coast of Negros Oriental....
