Thanks for the suggestions. Also, I have owned dogs most of my life, and have always loved and cared for them and treated them with utmost kindness.

Oh, of that I have no doubt or reason to doubt. I was making a general comment, and I offer my profound apologies if it came over as anything other than the generalisation that it was meant to be.

No offense taken, but it almost did sound like I might be cruel to the little doggy......hehe!! Thanks for the good info, though!!

Have you thought about getting a Jack Russel?
Great dog, lost of energy, smart and easily trained as watchdogs, but good with children.
As a matter of fact, I'm looking for a breeder to buy a male and female (unrelated) right now.

QUOTE=permres;66333]I agree!! I had no idea they were a cool climate dog!! I would NEVER want to own a dog here that does not tolerate heat...that is why I really don't want a german shepherd, either, can't stand to see them suffer with their long coats (my daughter had wanted one of those, too). I would much prefer a chihuahua, mini pinscher, boston terrier, dachsund, something of that sort, but in the small/med range only. I really want a chihuahua, if you know of any breeders.....
    Thanks!![/QUOTE]

Oops, missed the thread that already had the Jack Russels in it.
If anyone knows of a good breeder, let me know as I am looking to buy one or two for sure.

Hi there talking of Jackies!! i have had them all my life and yes they are great dogs. I don't know about PH but you could pay as much as 54,000 bhts for one if you could get one that is 1,000 pounds.
Talking of the heat one of our dogs is a Spanish fox terrier very small you think she would be used to the heat but has a constant battle with her skin flaring up hence the vet tomorrow, had the problem in Thailand the vet said yeast infection but its worse here even with a short coat so see what he comes up with we have tried everything could be alergy !! Cheers Di

I know grass/mold allergies and high humidity/heat play heck with the skin of short haired dogs.
I guess a regular shampoo with a baking soda rinse might help, but no matter what dog one gets, there is bound to be something to contend with.

Thanks for that it is on her belly most of it, so i will try the soda.
This seems worse than Sri Lanka and i thought that was humid, my hubby suffered with skin rashes there it drove him mad !! Thailand he had no probs drier, so Yeast is the best bet and hard to get rid of.
See what the vet says ? Cheers Di

Watch out for Puppy Farms they are usually a bad bet as you are never sure what trouble you are going to have. Worms etc and check the vacines if they have been done, not a nice site to see a poorly puppy just after you get it.
I am sure you know what you are about but it is so easy to make a mistake, in the OK you would ask to see the parents usually at a house. Buyer beware so to speak !!
    Good Luck Di
