    Hi All
    Another quick question regarding entry to the country, accoring to PH Embassyweb site :- British, Irish and Icelandic passport holders may enter and stay in the Philippines for 21 days without visa provided that they hold valid tickets for their return journey to port of origin or next port of destination, and that their passports are valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended period of stay in the Philippines .
    Does this hold? do you need and return ticket to get into the country or can you just pitch up and get visa and extensions? can you get the visa extension when getting initial visa and save trip to immigration?

    requirements are still the same.

    you need a ticket to leave the PI, NOTa return ticket.

    your initial 21 day visa is your entry stamp, you can not get an extension at the airport, but you can get a 2 month visa ahead in your home-country.

    cheers

    As Rhoody stated, you need an onward ticket, as opposed to a "return" ticket. Many people will tell you they were never asked for one. However, many of those had return tickets, and were simply not asked because the airlines could see on their computer that they had return tickets.

    Sometimes some airlines will let one slide through without an onward ticket. The airline is "on the hook" to remove you if you are refused entry.

    However, if you have to buy one at the airport at departure time, expect to pay many, many times over what it would have cost you beforehand, so you must weigh the risks for yourself.

    A cheap throw away ticket can be had VERY reasonably. Go here;

    Cebu Pacific Air - It's time everyone flies

    To me, the very minimal price for an onward ticket would not be worth the stress involved wondering if I were going to be able to board the plane or not.

    Your mileage may vary.

    This rule is not enforced in the Philippines.
    I entered the Philippines, stayed 6 months and upon departure my passport was valid for only 4,5 months.
    No problem, you may even find an advise from immigration on internet to ignore this rule.

    As with the onward ticket rule, it is the airlines which will probably be the enforcer of the rule. If a person is turned away by immigration, the airline must pay for their removal. Each airline may have different enforcement guidelines. Best to check with your airline to see if they will let you board under these conditions.

    Have to agree!

    Larry!, this was what happened to me at Heathrow last DEC (2009) I had only 6 months on my Passport, NOT the required 6 months after departure, On production of my Marriage cert to a PI National and a return ticket dated Jan 30th 2010, I was allowed to Fly. Quite correct, It is the Airline more than PI Immigration that pays detail to the Finer details. Perhaps this is good as after 27 hours and 10.000 + Kms better to know than be tutned away, maybe with a Hit for next time?
