I wish you had been more specific about who you were referring to in your original post. The group of 6 to 10 expats I was with meets at Casa Blanca every Friday for lunch and Gunther reserves a table for us. He often prepares a special dish for us as well. We appreciate him and his hospitality and were happy to join in his anniversary celebration. I drank a few of his 10 peso beers before leaving at 2:30 and left 500 pesos on a 385 peso bill as I could see the staff was going to have a tough afternoon. I hope you expressed your gratitude to them as well.

Kenny, not sure how I could be more specific and I am sure you know exactly which crowd I was talking about before my lengthy explanation, if not I hope I helped to clarify.

Anyway, I expressed my gratitude to the staff in form of cold beverages when they finally could sit down around 11 pm and enjoy the last few songs of the band.

My most respect still goes to my friend, the fat Austrian, people might like him or not, but compared to others he build with his academy in one year something 100+ year old schools did not manage up to now... to earn international accredited certification in Dumaguete that you can actually work abroad in the field you studied.

Many of us expats complain about issues and talking what we need and should have, ... without doing anything. Of course mistakes are happening, but only people who don't do anything can't make mistakes.... they are the mistake.

    cheers

We are certainly in agreement when it comes to Gunther. The restaurant business is one of the toughest anywhere in the world and to have made it here is just outstanding. I have heard that his students help in preparing some of the special dishes we have enjoyed. If this is true I am sure they are going to be very successful.

Fwiw, I talked to a foreigner friend today who went to the CB celebration. He said his roast beef was almost impossible to chew, his reserved table for 6 or 8 was totally occupied by only 3 people, something else he ate had what he guessed was lechon substitued for what was supposed to be in it, and apparently there was no bread available.

    Overall he wasn't happy.

Regarding the recent disussion on the steaks at CB, he feels the YNot steak is better than at CB.

But taste is a matter of..taste I guess

I had endless bread (two knds) and coltcuts including the best smoked tuna ever here. Had no problem to ask the staff for more when the bread was gone, while there was so much food that bread was the least of my concerns...

    Didn't try the roast-goat, though ... haha

SurfinUSA, send yor friend to a optical checkup, the bread was left side under the cold - cuts... and after that obviously also to check if his taste-butts are really that extremely messed up.

seems more someone is just on a Mission to talk bad about local businesses HE does not like and brings up the invisible good friend  (by the way, he seems to be a pretty arrogant !@#$ if he can not talk to people )

SurfinUSA, your post was f'n dumb, you personally were not there to take in the overall package the Casablanca event put on so why send in a BS post? You should know that if you go to an event that includes buffet, entertainment, cheap drinks, you are not going for the 5 star steak, you are going for the experience. I attended, it was good. What is your problem?

well, I guess it is time to close the thread, as all who really were there seemed to have had a great time and totally appreciated the effort put into that celebration.

By the way I also had bread and awesome "Blutwurst".

Always nice to see how much people talk who have no clue but know somebody blind, tasteless and dumb (only in terms of not able to speak of course) who did something, somewhere..

    cheers
