Has anyone set up a pump and tank tapping off the water line going to your house, as opposed to drilling a well? If it is allowed by my city (haven't checked yet), any reasons you know of why I shouldn't take that approach? Seems like it would be no different than filling a swimming pool and keeping the water at a certain level. Thanks

I'm involved with a project in northern Cebu. We have 2 large underground cisterns fed both by rain and city water. I don't see why it would be any problem here and much cheaper than drilling a well and the tank cost.

    Pump or Gravity feed.

Chris! this will depend if you Intend to Pump water to appliances. If you pump you can bury. If you intend to gravity feed, then the tank will need to be Higher that the uppermost appliance. are you single or Double storey House?

yea, just off the top of my head a water tank should be above ground, not only cheaper to install but gives you more water pressure

    Pressure

I am NO plumber BUT, gravity feed from Tanks will only give you 7/8 bar pressure max, we buried the tanks and fed from pump and the pressure is now 14 bar. To me if you want good pressure to strike up Gas water heaters there is no comparison. If Cost is that important better to stay on mains and hope the pressure will not affect the boiler. Both Roof and Surface tanks can be unsightly and knowing Pat he will want it right.
