Greetings, I'm so mad I could spit.

A week ago my Asawa went into SUMC to have a small tumor removed from her back. This week, as the gargantuan scar finally healed enough to touch, its quite obvious the TUMOR IS STILL THERE, right under the huge scar and larger then ever.

So, we'll be going to Cebu City sometime soon, to get it removed correctly by someone who actually knows what they're doing and cares about doing it right.

So, to reiterate, if you want a gaggle of incompetent idiots cutting holes in your body, go to Silliman medical center...

But if you need a real doctor, get to Cebu City.

Sorry for your experience but bad doctors can be found anywhere.

Thank you, and you are correct, but the "bad doctor" in this case is SUMC's "star surgeon".

It takes time for a wound to heal. It probably looks healed from the outside but is still healing inside. The bump that you feel maybe the swollen unhealed tissue , not a tumor. Maybe good to to check back with the doctor before you jump into conclusions.

One week is maybe too short to heal the operation wound. Am not defending Silliman Hospital. I have no opinion one way or the other.

I am a retired pharmacist, not a doctor.

No Felisa, thank you but in this case, it's the tumor, no doubt it's not incision or healing tissue. It's the tumor.

I wish your asawa and you all the best from the heart.

It is sadly "just another story" in a long row of incidents at named place (but not limited to that). people die there cause of a missing simple 2.000 $ standard tool like a EAD (automated external defibrillator) a 10 year old could use correctly and save life....
... or the ATMs are empty on a Sunday afternoon and you can't withdraw enough money to buy the required stuff that some doctors move their a$$ to safe a human being from dying.

That is the simple shocking truth and very concerning when thinking about the age of many expats here based on the fact that most never lived in a climate like here are and a kind of out of shape.

We are in a third class city in a third world country. That is exactly the education and medical care we can expect and do receive. It is our choice to evaluate if the benefits we receive from living here outscores the more negative aspects we have to deal with.

I totally understand your anger, I was in my time here involved in happenings where there was no chance anymore to go somewhere else in the hope that the result is better at the other place.

I don't know what went wrong with the surgery at Silliman MC but as soon as she is well enough to travel get her to Cebu for at least a second opinion.

As the saying goes..."nobody knows your body except you" you're not all alone with the complains to local hospital in this city as I heard many gossips around the corner.I suggest, go to Cebu to double check your situation for we only live once, go for chunghua or cebudoctors. It may not be as competent with Doctors in Manila but good enough. When you get back here and what you complain is true... please file for a "Medical Malpractice Case" so there will be a lesson learn for medical practice in this city.

Thank you for the good wishes, and what you posted here is very true, in my situation and countless other folks whos stories I've heard.
d*mn, I thought they could at least remove an obvious and easily accessible tumor. Never again, I swear this time, never.
