I think I will check into that, if everybody did it maybe someone might wake up. But I won't hold my breath.

    Resuscitation

Manz, I am with you on this, I wonder though, how far it would get?
As for holding your Breath, if you do, not to long aye! I suspect Resuscitation may be out of the Question, Given the lack of facilities and equipment!

I hope your Wife is not in pain and suffering, hope all goes well in the end
    may she mend soon.

It was 20 years ago while I was working with some Filipino Docs in Cebu when the subject of malpractice insurance came up. None of them had it because they said there was no such thing as malpractice here. Things may have changed somewhat since then but I wouldn't bet on it. I think you will just line some lawyers pocket and not have much luck.

Just try to get your wife well and worry about the other stuff latter.

Are there any positive stories relating to Silliman Hospital? I tell my wife as we are heading south and ambulances are flashing and heading north, to give me a last kiss goodbye when my turn comes to ride the ambulance.

Our, baby, delivered by c-section at Silliman, almost two months ago, is doing fantastic and growing like crazy. Mom is doing fine also! The estimate they gave for the complete hospital stay was way higher than the actual "out the door" price also. We are pleased!:D

:smile:Pat, Not all is bad news, as with KDF, The maternity Side is good, You have met our success Story, Our Monster is 12 now and doing more than well, SUMC have had some bad press YES! Manzanita has a problem just now and we all wish Maria well. I am sure he will soon sort out this sad occurance. When my brother-in-Law was diagnosed with Pancreatitis, They were the first to say he should be moved to Cebu. Both Azon and her Sister have had Surgery for cysts and neck groiters, Both, with success, it is all over world, that Hospitals, come under fire at some time. The last thing you need now, is to have this sort of news. I am sure, that all will be well. Have a good chat to her Obstetrician, Allay your fears where you can. As for you, Marines don't just Die, They retire to fight another type of war, Survival!

It's true that there are bad doctors everywhere in the world, and yes, some hospitals get bad press, fairly and unfairly, but I have to wonder about the standard of SUMC? If this is a teaching hospital, I am guessing the standards would be higher because the University are spitting out medical practitioners, so who is dropping the ball on this? Teaching hospitals should be some of the best but maybe I'm way off the mark, but that is just my 2 cents. It does sound like the maternity ward is good, and I really hope the emergency area is good as well. When I get my heart attack, or whatever, I'd like to stay alive long enough to be sent to Cebu for a second opinion...no, not the first personal opinion from the doctor saying, my prognoses is he is ugly, and the one in Cebu saying, I concur, all long noses are ugly, charge them double....but the medical opinions. So, seriously, this is a private place, and probably financially solvent, so why such bad care? Is it lack of supervision of the medical providers, or just a lack of caring? I'm really surprised with what some have said about the medicl equipment being in bad shape or non-existent, and that, for a teaching hospital makes no sense at all. Someone getting fat wallet syndrome?
