⌛ Unanswered?

As I am what I would call, An Active member here, I sometimes wonder what is going on? We have some really Good Posts about all sorts of things. Just Lately though, we have a few lame ducks about. Some members and I mean newish ones, seem to take offence with replies from Older hands. I see that lots of questions are asked, we try and give some answers and THEN! nothing. One in particular, was the one about Cat Boarding! I gave Web Sites, others gave information, then NOTHING, I even tried to bump the post, Still Nothing. Now, is it just me or does any of you out there, see what I mean. We go to the trouble of finding things out and nothing comes back. I read from a lot of posts, that we Active members are called a lot of things, Accused of higher than Mighty attitudes, all we try and do is help! seems of late, that it is only the core of Active members, that are actually talking. Can I just ask! Is it me or am I thinking right here ? Do these people actually want or need help or is it just needless writing?

I can only speak for myself..... I like Dumaguete Info - Forum...... I often read and benefit from different threads....but unless I have something to contribute I do not post..... to post a thank you would seem to be a waste of bandwidth and writing to be writing.....

As one of the "newish" guys...... who has been unnecessarily attacked on occasion by the older guys...... "possibly" ?? some of the newbies are intimidated.....reluctant to draw attention to themselves.... when I was attacked.... several members contacted me in private trying to help..... but it is VERY obvious I had people who objected to me posting anything..... in fact one member stopped me on street and commented, "They do not like you very much do they".....

Noticed a considerable effort on the part of Rhoody to create a more friendly forum.... maybe we all should help by being less critical and reduce the personal attacks

Do not know if that is applicable but it is an opinion

 

Point Taken BUT!

I do take your Point Kojak but it did not really, answer my Question. I just notice, that after some members here, try to answer a Particular Question, the OP disappears never to be heard of again. What was the point of the inquiry, if they do not, follow up on the answers?? You in particular, will pursue the issue to it's fullest, This I think, is a good way to go!

I can understand your point also..... after you impart hard won knowledge or even research to find the answer someone should at least acknowledge / thank you for the assistance

I do not know the answer.....when the forum helped me research some data.... I attempted to say thank you and let them know the results.... as some had requested..... I was met with a hail of "bullets"..... do not know if that had any impact or not????

 

I think that is what I was getting at, Thank You. Sorry to hear about the bullets bit but some we win some we loose, I know this. Just wanted to know, if I need some sleep or something, as I felt at times, I was hitting my head against a Brick Wall. Glad I got some responce, Maybe I have been away too long, I guess I have a little Withdrawl.

It is nice to hear feedback from people who ask for advice how the situation worked out. It keeps such information fresh, as to products, services, availability and prices. I think people get what they want and move on, never to be heard from again, until next time. My thanks to all who post advice. I'm trying to soak it all up.

Robert, a Big Thank You, you have saved my Sanity. At first I though! OH! Jack, you are just being a little critical. I see now, that others can see my point. This is refreshing.

Jack, to your point on "Active Members", you and I and Kdf along with our moderator maybe post the most. I can see where some members might get tired or irritated seeing our posts all the time. I would argue that, for the most part, we are posting to either help others or seek advice ourselves. I think that is the spirit of the forum. When we toss out a few "friendly" posts because some of us know each other that may not be to the liking of the majority, and I can understand that; however, we are in fact a community centered around a communication forum. I hope the majority can see it that way. As for asking info and not providing feedback, I guess that is up to the individual.

 

When I feel upset or pissed off at a matter on an internet forum, I leave the computer off for a few days and go enjoy my life for a little while.

I highly recommend this solution.
