right, which is crazy considering that negros island can now barely supply its own power needs. they say the biggest cities in the philippines, namely, manila, cebu and davao are the priority areas for power sourced from other provinces because the biggest businesses are located there. and then u hear rumors about plans to make this city metro dumaguete (like cebu). if that's true they have to fix the power situation here first because that's one of the major reasons that drive investors away.

what is the reason? Easter was 5 hour and now holiday again 8 hour. keep the people poor and sad? PI needs huge generator for all! How about another electric company for competitive prices and service?

    I don't know.
In 2007 we had a first power off in Moscow for 15 hours - it was like a disaster for the city. Since there were no such problems before - there were no generators and any other power backup for city facilities. About a million of people was stuck in the subway and dozens of thousands elevators around the city. Trolleybuses, trains, gas stations, cell towers, traffic lights(!), all freezers (even industrial) - there was nothing working. I think it was the best time to shoot some apocalyptic Hollywood movie, when crowds of people were just walking from the city after their working day to their homes in suburbs and the cars were crashing every minute because nothing regulates them and Russians love to go fast...

I'm so glad, that tomorrow I will have no such problems - power outage in Dumaguete is a good reason to go somewhere for a picnic instead of sitting in front of a computer on sunday))

    And thanks for a warning!

Just to inform you of the Power Outtages are not Noreco's doing. As of Jan.2011 Noreco is responsible for suppling Electricity to Dumaguete City under a new contract. Noreco is suppling Electricity full power everyday with no shortage as before. It is the sub stations throught the city who Noreco Supplies power to which are not run by Noreco totally operated by other than Noreco. The lady who lives in my subdivision works on the mountain for Noreco in the office. There is no longer a shortage of power in Dumaguete City but when work or damage the the power lines happens the sub stations are the ones pulling the switch not Noreco. Shortage of electricity is no longer the problem. Just sharing it info plus I have be working with these people on replacing my power pole which was ready to snap into and wanted me to pay for it and it is one of the main Poles that suppy other homes. After a long fight and threatening to go to the Mayor they changed it with a tall steel pole.

Oh..would that mean they constantly changing electric pool every weekend... lol! Changing an electric pool in one area will shut down whole Negros island? kinda weird huh! What would be their another excuse next year? Last year they have another excuse called shortage....

Another electric substation? Would that mean its not NORECO in some areas ? If it does, why we pay our bills to NORECO? Enlighten me pls....thanks!
