    Hi PatO,

I just looked up the Santa Catalina property. It is in Barangay Manalongon, and the profile indicates that it is 1 minute to seaside. The property is actually a residence, and the listing price is posted...price is very attractive. So, although hubby and I are a long way off from making the move, we were curious about the property and the area.

Too many pitfalls to buying too soon. Here in Toronto, we've had the experience of being landlords, and would not relish doing it again. But at the price it is listed, we thought this Santa Catalina property might be the exception.

What with rising real estate values, we thought we might just get our feet on the property ladder there.

Do tell me more about having to go to a chicken place in Bayawan. I hope you mean a restaurant specializing in chicken dishes...or, do you mean a place to buy dressed chicken? I hope it is the former.

Hi Macsmomma, Barangay Manalongon is the third barangay in Santa going toward Santa town center from Dumaguete, another three barangays to go before you enter the town center, about 15 min., so much there, to be sure. In Santa, there are a couple of small eateries where you have a look to see what is cooked in the 4 or 5 pots, mostly fish, squid, pork or chicken dishes. My wife of course likes most of them but not my cup of tea so we go to Chicken Ati-Atihan in Bayawan which is next to the bus depot. The resto also has places in Dumaguete. That part of Negros has not been developed, maybe a one-star resort and a few pension houses in Bayawan to stay at.
My wife and family are from Santa Rosario, about 15 miles from Manalongan. Is the property on the main hiway? Good luck.

    Hello again PatO,

The small eateries would probably draw me in...I am highly adventurous when it comes to food (when we go to Lima, I will probably sample alpaca, ostritch, and cuy, which is a guinea pig delicacy). My husband will be watching, and may even be tempted to sample.

I think that the listing just says that it has road access. I don't think we'll be making the purchase just yet (but it is not completely out of the question).

    Is it a safe district?

Hello! Im Dave Pinero from Tanjay City. I'm enjoying reading this forum. Actually, I'm from Cebu and I only spend a vacation here visiting my grandmother.

I'm an active member on istorya.net. I signed up this forum because I want to know more about the place here in Dumaguete.

    Thanks.

    Interesting!

 Something tells me, you are going to have quite a few posts Directed at you. Nice ones! We have a fair few Threads every now and then, with regard to Schooling. Elementary schooling comes up quite a lot. I have a feeling also, you may get a few questions, with regard to your Youth program. I hope you will stick around as I think, I hear some bells ringing about a project, some of us are on just now. Watch this Space comes to mind. Ask away if we can help in any way.

Thanks for the compliment Sir, Sorry if my description is not very satisfactory in such a way that I am just describing about my job description and a freshman from here and not the whole thing that i used to tell about myself. . Yes it is an honor if your generous enough to be part of Department of Education and whatever support you can share for as long as it is heartily and with satisfaction without hesitation. I was describing the status of the program where I am in and it was just a fact from what it is about. It is a tough job for us having our class in their community where they live, where they can access education in a most convenient way and fare free....teachers are deployed in their community for more learning. We produce hundreds of graduates and some are enrolled in college now, some where wife of some foreigners around the city and the nearby municipalities and this is open for those out of school youth and that are interested to grow up mentally and be part of a better community po. Thanks a lot .
