As mentioned a lot in previous threads on this subject, the title-ship of the lots in question have problems, they require many signatures of heirs here and abroad. Anyone that has bought a property that belonged/was titled to the "heirs of .....", will understand why, (this process and the efficiency of local government/legal system), it may take at least our lifetimes possibly, to sort out, (it isn't just a single lot either).
Anyway, as far as I am aware, Shoemart were offered the Robinson's site before the current leaseholders but rejected it on the grounds that it was too small an area. I'm not actually sure that the site in Daro is that much bigger.

Also, Savemore I thought was a subsidiary of Shoemart, usually specializing in retail and wholesale supermarkets, do correct me if I'm wrong of course.

Whatever they build, whenever they build it, let's hope that it's built for todays world, and not of a design 30 years out of date like Robinsons food mart. No pay-point instant card swipe, no moving belt at the checkout etc. etc. There's no harm in wishful thinking is there ? :D:D

These electricians seemed to know their schedule, even jobs after SM is finished. I didn't ask them about SM, they volunteered it.

well those sites, where everybody can make his dots and marks have about the same value as talking to 2 "electricians" in their lunchbreak at the boulevard ...

You should know that Watsons, which has a store at Robinsons, is actually franchised here in the Philippines by the SM Group. Watsons is a regular tenant in all SM malls. That could be the initial foray of the SM group in the city.

I have always heard that they want to open an SM Savemore, but that they actually hold the right to develop the land in Daro behind Gimmick, and that they still want to expand that lot to have a bigger area for their mall. The problem is they have difficulty in coming up with good terms with land owners in adjacent lands...I also heard that Hilmarc's want to construct the SM mall here in Dumaguete if they give the go signal to start this year. FYI, Hilmarc's constructed the SM Mall of Asia...

If it's going to be built in Dumaguete, then it's going to be a Mini-SM Mall... definitely not a large one.
