⌛ light hearted story

In my six years in Philippines i have done many transactions with locals and expats and have never been ripped off by anyone, until-
I have a collection of money notes which i collected from countries during my twenty years of exploring the world, 52 in all. I was told a local expat made himself some extra cash by picture framing and that he would do a good job as others have seen his work before. I decided to use his services and we agreed on a design and price in all it took two frames approx 3*2" so he took two months and made them. On collection i was very pleased and paid the agreed amount without question. They hung on our wall during one rainy season and at the end they stated to mould in side the frame due to very damp conditions, so one day my wife decided to carefully dismantle them for cleaning on doing this we discovered that four of the notes that were valuable and could be changed here in Philippines were perfect colour copies and plain white on the back.
Do you laugh or cry........

 

I want you to know I appreciate that you can have some perspective on the incident, that speaks well of you. I have done some collecting in the past and I know aside from the monetary value it would annoy the heck out of me to have part of a collection come up missing. I would also contend I do not find expats any more honest than the locals, in fact they are probably less so in many ways, they can be more cavalier

 

Yep, that was the most annoying as the note was my only evidence that i was there as i am a collector.
No matter you live and learn, before this he enjoyed the company of other expats and events and since this he is not welcome he is now "HOME ALONE"
maybe that will give him time to think..

 

The Greeks taught us that there is a very thin line between a comedy and a tragedy. Sad rip off indeed.

 

snowman, sorry to hear about loosing your collection, I also have collected several paper bills and coins from countries I have visited and some from countries I haven't. Now thanks to you, I know what to do with the stuff.

No worries, just be careful who you get to do the work..actually i had some work done on Perdices street, Dumaguete they were very good..

I am a great believer in good follows good and bad follows bad, since that as i said before he has lost the respect of the entire expat community here in Baguio and in Bauang where alot of expats go to the beach etc.
Sometimes it's hard enought to live in the Philippines, you just have to take somethings on the chin..

 

Never said you were wrong....I admire your attitude..... I am a bad fellow struggling unsuccessfully to be good
