Our region is NOT the Philippines...... there are 90 million people in the Philippines.... I seriously doubt you are an expert in 90 million people....I doubt you have met one million

and there are exceptions..... many exceptions..... even here

Know several foreigners who have been employed locally.....Maybe there are some but I have yet to meet one who was happy.....I have never been "employed" here .....I write for the newspaper but do not get paid....I was superintendent of a local private high school....again for free .....
It would be interesting to get the Filipino perspective on foreign employees

Try to stagger the hiring of your employees, say 1/3 every 2 months so the shock of starting over won't set you back so much.
I have always hired all new employees, except for the few who actually show up on time and do their jobs as required.
Besides, why overhire when you first start out?
Just move one step at a time, slowly building up so that if things go sour for you, the investment loss will be smaller.
Besides, it usually takes time to build trust and a good following so you can really grow in size.

QUOTE=Kojak;72265]That is not just here.... there are greedy employee and greedy employers everywhere.... what I am interested in is the employment environment HERE .....

I have several business ideas but I NEED to know the facts before I can create a marketing plan...... trying to run a business for six months is an EXPENSIVE way to learn a simple lesson others have learned before you ......[/QUOTE]

Actually, we do have lazy employees in the U.S., but they are in the minority because we can fire them for not doing their jobs in spite of what the bleeding heart liberals there think of us.

I have found Filipino employees very much in demand overseas. They are usually smart and diligent. Foreigners come here and see a large population of well educated unemployed or underemployed people and think they can take advantage of the situation. You get what you pay for. The same person who under-performs working for minimum wage may well value his job and show initiative when justly compensated.

    Just a liberal's opinion.

Safeway does it too. They have twice as many employees as they need, and work them all so they stay under the threshold where they become full time.
That's what Safeway employees told me anyway. Not the same as temp contracts exactly, but still a way not to have to pay full benefits.
