The U.S. consulate now has a service where they will send your new or renew passport to your home, if you don't want to go back to Cebu, cost around 250 ant takes about 4 weeks.
Cost for aircon bus now 200 and ferry 70 and Cebu taxi meter starts at 40. Been 8 months since our last trip.
Marriot Hotel offers senior discount to all.

Time to renew our son's passport which requires an appearance with 5 years of photos. The Manila Embassy site says that passport renewals now require an online appointment, no mention of Cebu. The State Department site says that the Cebu Consulate is not authorized to issue passports. Last time we attended an Embassy outreach but I find none scheduled, and haven't received an Embassy newsletter for many months.

Anymore dealing with the BI is much more pleasant and a whole lot cheaper.

No appointment necessary for Cebu U.S. Consulate in fact I don't think they take appointments, hope 9-11. They check to make sure you are submitting all the requisite paperwork then they forward to Manila for processing. An American in line ahead of me submitted a new passport request for his wife and child and they asked him if he wanted the passports sent to his house or pick up at the consulate. Note: you can save time by printing out the renewal request form from the government website and looking at the requirements list.

Thanks for the update! It's been 20 years since we first visited the Consulate for our 'permission' and it were very laid back then. It's only coincidence that we haven't been there for several years, with 3 kids on a 5-year cycle and us on 10 we were visiting (expensively) every year.
