    Hello Everyone,

I have a lease deposit on a small home near the Santa Monica Resort.
I have been to Dumaguete three times in the last year and have a small idea in my head of what the city is all about. I have been reading the forum as a guest for about a year, but just recently joined. I will be retired and moving from Southern California. I am bring my two Cats, Imp and Uggy with me, persians. I have sent 22 boxes so far ahead of me, and expect to send another 6 to 8.

If there is anything that I am use to here (southern California) which I may not find there please let me know so I can send it ahead. I have sent things like Ketchup as I have read in the forum that I have to go to Cebu for good Katchup, so I have sent some. It may sound crazy, it did to my kids, but I just call it planning ahead a little.

I have enjoyed the forum and look forward to getting involve with it and the community there.

    Dave (Imp is sleeping now)

Most everything that one needs is here, including ketchup. Heinz is available in all the supermarkets. If you like mexican food, masa and pinto beans are difficult to find even in Cebu, and Jalapenos are difficult to find in Dumaguete (but canned embassa are in Cebu). The cheese here you will find greatly disappointing and expensive.

    Hello Dave,
maybe you might bring also something for Imp and Uggy. That is if they need something specifically for them.

We use the Heinz ketchup here, tastes like what we had in the states. I agree, if you are wanting mexican food, bring your own corn masa, jars of jalapenos, pinto beans....yes, cheese is very expensive, but I noticed my last trip to the states that the prices of almost everything has gone way up there, too. We like Malt O Meal which is not available here, so we bring that from the states. The instant oatmeal here is not quite like what we are used to in the states, either. If you like canned green beans, they aren't always available here, either. Also, they don't have as much available for cats here as they do there, so you might want to stock up on some of their favorite toys, treats, etc....
Sudafed (I buy the Wal Mart brand).....it is banned here, so I would suggest buying some there to have available to you here. I usually buy 4 boxes to last until my next trip.
    Good Luck!!
