⌛ IT park in Duma? Cool!

President Benigno Aquino III yesterday said the Link Sy I.T. Park in Barangay Bantayan, Dumaguete City, will provide more Negrenses and people around the region with jobs, without having to look for work abroad.

“More Filipinos and, specifically, more Negrenses, will be able to receive a decent salary without having to be so far from their families… without being too far to enjoy a peaceful stroll along Dumaguete’s breathtaking Boulevard at the end of their work days,” he said.

Aquino, who led the groundbreaking rites for the Link Sy I.T. Park, said the Information Technology industry earned $8.9 million in 2010 alone and this is expected to hit $11 million in 2011and give 640,000 direct jobs.

BPOs will create enough opportunities in this country, such that our own people will no longer feel forced to leave their homes and their families just to find decent-paying jobs — that when they do choose to work overseas, it will be out of choice, not necessity, he said.

“This LinkSy IT Park is an embodiment of that dream,” he said.

“Together, let us continue showing the world the efficiency, the skill, and the creativity embodied by Filipinos. Through the many innovative businessmen who have chosen to set up shop in the Philippines, through the skilled workers we produce who are admired by employers from all over the world, and even through the artistic prowess of its citizens like Dumaguete’s own Edith Tiempo, we see the capacity of the Filipino people to succeed in an increasingly competitive global milieu,” Aquino said.

Danford Sy, general manager of the July Development Corporation, which owns the Link Sy IT Park, said the IT facility located in a 11,164 square meter lot will soon see three buildings with a total floor area of 14,666 sq.m. which will be for both commercial and IT purposes.

ahhhhh, that explains why that house has been torn down. Rumor had it the house was "possessed" and nobody could/would live there....I guess several deaths there had made many leary of the place. I hope that isn't some sort of "hallowed" ground that will somehow affect whatever home or business is built on it!! Maybe they should get it exorcised, blessed, and whatever else needs to be done!!

This will be the 3rd IT park in the city...Words have it that this is going to have an SM Savemore as its retail component. Qualfon is going to be the first locator as it is going to expand capacity here in Dumaguete once the first building is finished by March.

 

@permres: you have to understand that every engineering aspects or concern should be satisfied. that includes the soil bearing capacity in that area. all of these requirements should be satisfied before installing those buildings. so you should not worry about those grounds near the sea. because i have seen some areas outside of the philippines wherein if you dig 1/2 of a meter you will already notice water coming out. they have a process for that so that the foundation will be more than strong to hold that building even when earthquake comes. sometimes also you try to look at dumaguete port area to where those foundations are built into. fyi. cheers!

Also parts of the Teletec roof collapsed some years ago due to ground movement (not earthquake).

I would be on your side if the money spend would go into the ground for reinforced concrete and steel and not in several wallets..

 

Uhhh, you may wish to research the construction of Robinson's? Soil tests? Whatever for!

@Rhoody: the contractor should be liable for that and answer why those ceilings or roof collapsed. In any case if there was negligence on their part they could be sued for that.
