    Ok, what's wrong with everyone?

No new threads in 3 days now.

There sits Rhoody (and Dane) making a 6 figure income off of this website, and they don't have to do nothing, BECAUSE nobody is posting here. Make them WORK for their money.

Start new threads. Start arguements. Start some threads that everyone will complain about. Call each other names. Do something. It's getting boring.

Me? I'm sitting here on my patio drinking my very first home-made Margarita, and it taste perfect. Now, I need someone to start a new thread.

Hey, so do I, but I post anyway.

We all can't please everyone, all of the time. Hell, in my case I can't seem to please anyone anytime. Just asks my first wife or my second wife (oops, forget her she's deceased) or my ex-girlfreind. They will tell you I can't please people.

Maybe that's why I don't have many friends.of course with my bad attitude, I really don't care.

Actually, most of that is joking only.

I do have many friends, if you don't count ex-wives and girlfriends. And I have a lot of really good friends here, even though I never met them in person. And there are a few that probably don't like me here. But I do try to please and be social.

As for elsewhere, I have friends all over the world and I am thankful for each and every one of them.

    Applauds!

Ok Ron! You have indeed, hit some issues on the head, Your 2 latest posts, will I feel, raise a few Eyebrows, Ruffle a few feathers, even attracted a negative post or two. I think the main problem is, as you have already mentioned, some are just too frightened, Nervous even, to put words on screen. We see the same old things appearing, Visas, Internet speed, McD's even, (That's Ok to a degree, New members need help too) You are so right, lets have some posts of Fun, Intrigue, Threads about life. I guess, that we all, want to be perfect, I have said many times, I am just mad (Crazy) I post as I feel it, I thread as I wish it. We are all here for one reason or another, You are right, lets hear about it. I have said this before, Presumptuous or Predictable maybe, My signature says it all, Ron! I am with you, all the way on this. We have the Quote thread, Great and still running, Where is the Humour on here, one of the best so far. Lets hope this thread can be long Running. There are some say, I, talk to much, I don't care anymore, I am here and If there are some, that don't like my Threads or posts, dont read them. having said that, lets keep the silly replies aside (I am guilty, of this in the past) We can only live and learn from this Type of forum. Settling in a new country, can be difficult, we can make it, with the help of others, such as our members here.
    Good Threads Ron!

JP, I do know this to be true in some cases. I trade emails almost daily with a man from Holland, that lives here, that reads this forum daily (I think), because he is always up to date on anything posted here. But, I have never seen him post a word....why? He has been a Member (reader) here for almost as long as me.

He is intelligent and well spoken. He has serious things to be said but won't say them in a public forum. I don't think he is shy. I think he just doesn't feel like getting involved in the hassles that sometime occur here.

He also had a break-in and wrote to me when PatO posted about it and figured out it was me. He made a decision, without any outside opinions, to buy a handgun and wrote to me for opinions on what to buy. He has since purchased one. But, after seeing the hassles between the "anti" and "pro" gun people here, he stayed away from the arguements here.

Nobody wants to be ridiculed for what they feel is right in their particular situation or life. Nobody wants to be called names for thinking the opposite of another.

I am a perfect example of this. I am a double degree engineer by education and profession, yet I am covered with 17 tattoos and rode a Harley for almost 50 years. I enjoyed having people look at me and think I was "biker trash". But, every morning I would wake up and go run a specialized corporation doing a job that only about 500 people in the world know how to do. That evening, I was a biker bum again. I never let most of my biker friends know what I did, because I didn't want to be different. Most of them were just hard working blue-collar workers. When asked, I use to say that I drove a 18 wheeler for Coke.

Yes I carried a gun in the USA. A legal gun with a legal permit to carry. My email, ronv8917, is my license to carry permit number. I am very proud of having a 4 digit number. So what? There are over 350,000 permits to carry in Texas alone. The newspaper yesterday said that 15 to 20 million females in the USA carry legal handguns, 2 of my daughters are in that group. So what? Does that make us better or worse than the anti-gun people? No, it only makes us "different", not better and not worse.

I like tattoos, maybe you don't. I talk normally using a lot of profanity, maybe you don't. I ride very fast and take too many chances, maybe you don't. There are a lot of things that may be different between you and I, but does that mean we can't communicate or be friends....I hope not. If that IS the case, then our world is really sad.

Sometimes the Anonymity that the Internet, alias's, handles gives people allows them to say things that they would not do in a face to face environment. Writing Styles, directness versus shyness often conflict.

ronV, you are right, lots of people offer thoughts and people jump all over them because they disagree. The right of all people to enjoy and express their own opinions is sacrosanct. Its what makes us civilized. Just as the right to dissent is just as important. Many People have died for these rights

What I have found interesting is the wide variety of people, from different countries, backgrounds, educations and aspirations that a forum like this brings together, indeed, it could be said that the type of person that is drawn to a country like the Philippines are definitely NOT your mow the grass every sunday types. All the people I have met seem to have a story and it is part of the Rich tapestry of Life.

This forum is a fantastic resource, I contribute as it is my way of giving back. This forum and its members helped me enormously in the transfer to Dumaguete. I only have to ask and some great people respond, usually very quickly

I guess my point is that we never know who is REALLY on the other end of that keyboard, but we should all accept that different points of view are healthy and even if someone does not agree with another, allow them THEIR right to have their own opinion and understand that they may be seeing the discussion form a totally different viewpoint because of their own cultural heritage.

It could be said that there is never Right or Wrong, just degrees of right ..

There is a lot of profound wisdom here, and it's very true that keyboard anonymity can sometimes encourage people to write things that they would not normally say in a face to face. But the right to freedom of expression is as sacrosanct as the right to reply, and opposite opinions that provoke discussion is healthy. The unhealthy part is when some people are so blinkered with tunnel vision that they can only see their own point of view and refuse to acknowledge that others, whose opinions differ, may have just as valid a point. If we were all the same, then the world would be full of yes-men, and thankfully we are not that. It's very true that a Forum such as this brings together a huge cross-section of people from right across the human spectrum, and to describe it as a pot-pourri of people would not be far off the mark.

" I may disagree with everything that you say, but I will defend unto death your right to say it". That phrase, and variations of it, are widely attributed to Voltaire (1694-1778) but it's not a bad maxim to live your life by.

Ron, as far as tattoos go, Admiral the Lord Nelson, King George V, and Field Marshal the Viscount Montgomery of Alamein are all reputed to have had tattoos, so I guess you keep good company and only move in the best circles.
