Ok left bohol payed 1100 for my motorbike then a extra 300p for loading and unloading or so I was told .

Upon arriveing the porter here say no that not for here just bohol where I could have rolled it on by myself it was that easy ..The guy in bohol assured me the 300 was for both ends no extra fee LOL so they unload my bike a 6 guys surround my bike and will not let me near it until I pay again? So I say go get the captian or dock boss at which point they all get mad and start getting agressive towards me .. At the dock in bohol a employee told me unloading is included in the ticket price which would make sence but nothing here makes sence ,..

So I payed and told the guys there today I would go to there boss and complain about the way they treated me
they talked to my sweety and said if I want to complain I will have to go back to bohol lol

Is unloading and loading included in the price or is it extra ? With all the fees and tickets it cost me about 3500p from bohol to duma does that sound right ? Oh yeah then after i pay them to step away from my bike I get hit up for another 123p for landing fee ..Every time I land in Duma I get a bad taste at the docks from the porter taking my luggage 1 block and asking 500p or the tricade driver asking for 700 to take me 1 mile ...Is there any where I can go complain about htese guys ? not that it will do any good but man It make me not want to come over to negros its not the few pesos its the way they treat me Ok rant over

You only have to pay for what they issue an official receipt.
But it may take a few days to get the whole paperwork done.
    Storage at your own risk.

The Porters at the Dumaguete Pier have long been the shame of Dumaguete in my mind. The failure of Dumaguete's leadership to control these thugs is a blight on them. The solution is simple: Shitcan the cooperative (i.e., mafia) that runs the porterage at the pier!

So its not just me then .. If this was my first trip to the RP I would have been scared to say the least ..I think thugs explains them well after asking them to get the captain or dock boss they got very aggressive towards me and being out numbered by at least 6 of them I caved in to there extortion . i did send a email to ocean jet but I doubt if I will even get a reply .. There must be someone to complain to because when I said I was going to report them they told my sweety I would have to go to bohol and do that .. I mean I really don,t care about the money it was a small amount for me but the way I was treated was horrible And if I do go complain I feel I put myself at risk .. You would think with tourism bringing in a lot of money they would not want such a black eye at the main port ..

Have no experience to transport a motorbike on a ferry from island to another. However it makes sense to me that, as far as payments are involved, just stick to charges or fees for which you will get an official receipt if not covered by the conditions made on departure. As for the porter's fee in Dumaguete harbour. There's a big sign (billboard) next to the entrance to the new terminal building where you will find exact rates about weight and the distance. It happens to me in the passed when taking the fast ferry from Dumagute to Bohol, Cebu or Dapitan they tried to charge me a luggage fee to get my suitcase onboard. Their asking price, far beyond the indicated prices. So I simply told them their price is not correct and therefor carry the suitcase myself. Anyway it makes again clear that this country has still a long way to go attract more tourists and finally to please them instead of scamming them.

Lee, I fully understand your angryness after being cheated by these "service" people at the pier.
When I once brought our motorbike on the ferry from Dumaguete to Siquijor I got so damned angry on these people and insisted not to pay any more peso unless they could give me a formal (not by a porter but by an office employee) explanation in which they could make clear the mentioned amounts for the various 'services' of loading/unloading/other fees.
The motorbike was still left on the kay and all people were waiting for me to go on the boat.
They could NOT give me that formal clarification !! The only choise I had to not let my honey going alone and without the motorbike was to pay them and follow the 4 people bringing my motorbike on the deck. A 4 meter transportation of a small 125 cc Honda Wave !!!!!
I also 'threatened' them to write a complaint letter to their superiors. They were however not impressed at all by that.
I will NEVER (unless the cheating has been stopped according to experiences from others) EVER again bring my car or motorbike on a ferry from Dumaguete. From Bacolod to Iloilo with my car on the ferry I had no real complaints.
It shows that nobody in the controlling bodies of Dumaguete either is concerned about the long term consequence of this to tourisme either reads this forum. (or maybe both).
And indeed it is not only the porter who is cheating. They are backed up by the so called office employees.
I have made my choise and will do everything to not even meet them.

You know for me it was not the money at all, it was the way they treated me I would have gladly tipped the a few hundred pesos for doing it if it was left up to me to give them a tip but the agressive way I was treated was out of line . I wonder if the tourist police would have been any help at all ? I would have tipped them big to make those aggressive bums back down ..With that being said next time I will take the ro-ro at bato sibulan great service never any extras

Perhaps it's high time to have a serious talk with the general manager or what ever his/her function is described as head of the harbour in Dumaguete City. Read an article today that the president Mr. Acquino is doing his utmost to attract investors from abroad. Hopefully those investors don't have to deal with the maffia here in the harbour of Dumaguete. What a shame for this country as nobody seems to be interested.
