    Hey guys,

any of you our your guests have experience with the a/m place? My asawa and I are booked there for a week mid-November when we will start our house-hunt, and I'd like to know what I can expect beforehand. I learned about tha place via this Forum and figured I would read some more about it, but it stayed very quit in that section, hence my question. Website looks nice enough and the response to my inquiry was prompt and courteous, so no problems there. Stayed at the Nicanor before, but figured I'd try something else this time.... You know of anything, just post me a response, pls.
Hope to see/meet a lot of you after our arrival and enjoy a cold SanMig regularly..

Sorry, probably because I made a booboo in the spelling that no-one recognized the place: I'd like to know if anyone has first or second-hand experience with the Island's Leisure Hotel...
We're less than a month away from our arrival there and would like to be pre-warned if necessary.....

    Thanks in advance,

    Vicmico

Let us know when you get here and we can arrange to meet up. I have never been in Islands Leisure but I live very close to it.

Thanks for the response, Broadside. We are scheduled to arrive in Manilla 3 Nov and will stay a few days at the Bayview to get used (again). Planning is to fly from Manilla to Duma 6 Nov and check-in at Island's Leisure during the afternoon on the 6th. Looking forward to meeting you.

Vicmico..if it is half as good as its web site shows,it would rank way up there with the nicest rooms and suroundings in Dumaguete area..... However..it is not on the beach and a little way from the center of town..10 min trike ride....I am not sure, but it looks like Coco Grande owner has something to do with it... Miguel

    Hi Miguel,
I was surprised by the exterior and interior pcs on their website too, and hope the place lives up to the expectations one gets after looking at these pics. However, as we all know: paper is patient... If indeed the proprietor of the Coco Grande has something to do with it, my expectations are raised even more as my wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Coco Beach Resort in Siquijor two years ago, and that is part of the Coco empire too. We are not coming to Duma as vacationers this time, so a beach location is not that important. We will stay 6 days at Island's Leisure and hope to find a furnished apartment in that period of time which will allow us to patiently look for a more suitable rental property for the long run: we intend to settle in Duma and become part of the expat community there. We stayed at the Nicanor last time we were in Duma and although it was not a bad place, we decided to look for something a bit more fancy this time...

I highly doubt it has anything (even distantly) to do with Coco and Mike Butler it is much too fresh and vibrant. I do admit always thought Coco on Siquijor was rather poor for that price. Termites, squeeky too small aircon, medicore food, friendly but rather old fashioned "but it is good enough -attitude". Was there 2 times and would certainly not go back unless the place undertakes a complete renovation, or better restauration. might have been OK 8 years ago but did not develop with the time.

Island's leisure-money comes from Cebu. Daryl, a friendly youngish manager originates from Saipan, Rooms are great. Don't think the restaurant if fully up to speed now. If there are issues, they really try to sort it out, not just saying they do, like usually here. However, a friend of mine stood there a few days and some small hick ups occurred here and there but he liked it a lot. He bought half of the room. Sounds funny, but the interior is for sale, so if you like the pictures or other art and wanna take it to your new apartment, no problem (other than money)

Trikes are no issue in the evening and you are faster at places like Hayahay than from most other places. If you are here during Buglasan, you can just walk around the corner.

Take care, Broadside is somewhere around in the neighborhood, he tends to abuse people to have a drink with him and after that blames them that he had a headache the next day ...

Thanks for the update and personal info, Rhoody... Especially the warning about another forum member will be taken to heart. I hope the hotel is not too far away from Bogart's either as I would like to enjoy a cool SMB there again - 2 years is too long. Als like to sample the Casablanca menu again and see whether it's still as much to my liking as 2 years ago...

Hehehehehe........ does the Cyber Crime Libel issue kick in now ? Vic, you got to be careful of that Rhoody fellow. He will say "we will only have one beer", you agree just to be sociable, and then you find the beer is in a full 10 litre glass.:D

As Island Leisure is on Hibbard Avenue it is on a normal trike route so they are plentiful, and it is a straight run on one road to the centre of town. For Bogarts/Casablanca on the Boulevard it is probably a 10 minute trike ride depending on the time of day, unless the trike is a fume belching two stroke struggling to go faster than walking speed. Islands Leisure is fairly new so many trike drivers won't know it by name, but if you tell them Silliman Village or ABC Learning Centre they will go in the right direction. Just shout stop when you get there.
