hey guys, what would be a great plan for 3 days/2 nights in the area of dumaguete on the last week of february? i have been to the manjuyod white sand bar mid february 2009 and it was windy and there were no dolphins on sight, and i recall storms in the morning. i predicted the weather wrong coming from bacolod and san carlos where it was sunny. this time i will be coming from the dumaguete airport and i have never been there, although i know the same bus line, ceres, operates there. would going back to the manjuyod white sand bar be a good idea? i have also read that dolphin season starts on march, would the latter parts of february see dolphins? any advice would be much appreciated. thanks guys!
Hey Coconut! I don't think the weather is still good for dolphin watching and anything having to do with the sea. You might just want to visit the night spots in Duma.
There are plenty of thing to do around the Dumaguete area if you are willing to travel, you have mabinay caves, niludhan falls, twin lakes, lake balanan, tambobo bay and a few more. There is always a trip to siquijor and rent a bike for the day.
Don't forget Cassaroro Falls, Pulanbato Waterfalls and pool (Php10), Pulanbato Hotspring (Php10), Ocean24 Resort (hot water swimming pool, Php 30), and snorkling on the reef at the Dauin Marine Reserve (Php50). You may still be able to swim with whale sharks across the strait in Oslob. There is also the Silliman Zoo (not great but you can see some of the local endagered wildlife), the Silliman Anthropology Museum and the Silliman Marine Mammal Park and Museum, all located in Dumaguete. If you are touring around town, you might find a Japanese Pillbox or two. Take a walk around the Sidlakan Negros Village (if anything is open). You have to take a picture of the Bell Tower near the Catholic Church. Have lunch at Azelea's restaurant on the road to Twin Lakes. If you are adventurous, take a scooter trip up to the Japanese Shrine. Do the zipline at Terra Alta. Play a game of pool at Fantasy bikini Bar in Sibulan :-)
