I think it is good to toss out some positive things as well. Yesterday we were invited to the home of one of our former workers as they had a fiesta in their area. He was one of the older carpenters (62) who did so much work on the house and especially the Nipa. His son also worked for us, so other than those 2 guys I did not know any of the other folks that were there. Everyone was very hospitable and made me feel welcomed and even though we only spent a couple hours at his home it was a really good time. One thing I've noticed is that many Filipinos are nervous to speak English for one reason or another but after a few drinks they seem to open up a bit so I had a blast talking to a number of different folks.

Anyone that has read my various posts can see that I had a lot of love for our workers (not so much for the electricians and plumbers); I really loved to see the you young guys that had little construction experience at the start of the house build and to see them evolve and how hard they all worked.

Manners, respect, common sense, I think we are going off track or are we?
Michael Farage (UKip) Euro-politician apparently offended people by what he said recently over what happen in Paris.
The Pope is on a mission to try to bring tolerance and peace to different fractions of society.
The more intelligent society becomes, the more we want to destroy it. While I would like to live in an ideal World, that creates advances for the good of all, can anybody really see that is happening?
Until this World learns to forgive and forget the atrocities of the pass, there will never be peace.
Maybe in the end,This World will be a waste land, created by Mans inhumanity to Man.
Manners, respect, common sense., that's all it needed in the beginning.

There are better worded articles written on this topic but my opinion is that smart phones have both become the most powerful device a human could ever carry and the most destructive force of the deterioration of social manners at the same time.

We are rapidly approaching a generation of newly minted adults that have never not known life without a smart phone. Basically smart phones have become the "outer garment". What I mean to say is that when people go out now, they put on this "outer garment" that protects them from having to talk to pretty much everyone else that isn't already established in their lives. A social network bubble. This is happening all over the USA too from what I've seen. Kids have their heads DOWN at all times except for when necessary. The only time you see anyone showing emotions/expresions/fun actions is when posing for FB pics and then afterwards revert back to being motionless.

As anyone whose read my posts over the years will understand, things will just throw you for a loop; fortunately I have a great girl with Cherry that just straight up handles things.

As much as I love it here I am honestly getting bored, I want to get back to work; spending 24/7 here has been great but I'm not ready to be retired quite yet.

You would think with internet and a lot having smart phones and along with so many foreigners here now things would improve on that front but from my point it seems to be getting worse!
The new generation I think are much worse than the older ones, I find the older ones in the provinces are so much more polite and welcoming to us foreigners, they will nearly always invite you to drink or eat with them. We sometimes join them and but a bottle of rum or a few beers which are always appreciated.
It costs nothing to say please or thank you or even hold a door open for someone

This lack of respect or poor upbringing does not fall solely on Filipinos. I have seen an expats kid come to a bar and pee in the pool. Twice the same kid dropped his pants and took a sh*t in the yard. The parents said "no, don't do that" but made no effort to stop the kid. This was no toddler either. Well within the age that a kid should know to use the toilet. I am scared to even think of what would have happened to me if my father had seen me even think about doing such a thing. I know it would have been the first and last time I ever thought about it.

The way children are brought up in this country is downright shameful. I would be embarrassed to take my kid out if it acted in such a way. I will never have a kid in the Philippines, they have just made it practically illegal to verbally punish your child, let alone physically punish a child. The problem is only going to get worse in the Philippines. These children, that will never see consequences for their actions, are going to grow up to be absolute monsters!

That one also gets to me jack, the wife's neice doesn't get anything unless this is heard, ( please or thank you) we just ignore her.

So many times when out and about we hear the words "give me money" that gets completely ignored also. If we hear a pls things are different  we can't alway blame the kids for this, sometimes it's the parents or education system which also sucks.
