Quote from one of the articles seems to say most of it: "How to overhaul the Philippines' economic system, so that, to paraphrase French Philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau, no man is poor enough to sell his votes and no one is rich enough to hijack the political system. Formal political equality amid mind-boggling poverty and inequality is nothing but an illusion of democracy."

The illusion of Filipino Pride reigns still.

Religion should always be like this. The church should not be trying to force their beliefs on an entire population!

The Philippines needs a leader that will support economic reforms to transform robust economic growth from hollow achievements to one that trickles down even to the lowest member of the social strata, an economist said Tuesday.

"It's a political issue. We cannot do the economic reforms unless we have a leader that supports that," University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) economist Vic Abola told GMA News Online.

This is in reaction to the article "Philippines' City of Illusions: Time for an Economic 'EDSA Revolution" posted on The Huffington Post.
