The pump installation should come with a float switch in the tank, so that when the water level in the tank reaches minimum level, the power to the pump is switched off.

Pat, the fellow right next to me seems to be drilling for something, since there is little oil, and not a consistent water supply available here I think he is looking for water. He has been drilingl for about a week. He may be a source of information. Just west of my house. Drill rig was still up yesterday..-

We are asking for receipts for everything and will join him at Polaris when we buy the two expensive items, big tank and pump.

Still think that's a bit high on materials and labour on top pat! I mentioned to you are probs which are now sorted as you know mate, and now are sorted. If there ain't no water from the lutao pump youre still not going to get any water pressure to the tank.
Once the tank runs dry you will need turn off the pump before the bearings run dry and you know as well as I do pumps here don't last that long.
Did you price the materials yourself ?-

Did I understood your post correctly. Are you using a pump to suck water out of the mainline?
Bad Idea! If you are sucking from the line there can be problems!!
I connected a pump to my mainline that way and I pulled in sand and junk from all the leaks. Any surface water that got sucked in would be of questionable quality.
Now I just let the water flow into my tank whenever it's available and use a pressure pump/tank to feed the house.-

Pato
I've noticed a lot of community well around various parts of Bacong (the old hand pump jobbies) that people use. I'm guessing the water is not too far down in many areas.
If there is a community well near you then you can assume there is water close to the surface.
A friend has recently put in a couple of dug wells at La Toundra Beach (Gerry's on the Beach) in San Miguel. Actually he is in the process of installing one now.
It cool how he does them:
He digs until he hits water and then starts to cast his well tiles in the hole using some basic plywood forms.
He keeps casting more section until he has most of what he needs.
Then he excavates from inside the tiles (very safe), as the tiles sink into the ground he will cast another section or two on top of his existing tiles.
It's worth going down for a look see. Maybe this could work for your place. If not you can always get a cold beer.
Ask for Micheal or Roger.-
