Notwithstanding what has been said here is the fact that many of the courses taught here are redundant. And, the teachers who teach them are not qualified to teach. They may have the credentials on paper but they are less than adequate as a teacher. Most books they use are just poor photo copies and those books are outdated. Plagiarism is rampant here in the Philippines. And, lastly over 90% of students are cheaters. So, what have they really learned when they graduate? Add it all up and you have a huge FAIL.

For example, let's look at computer science. Are any schools producing qualified students who have a firm grasp on cutting edge computer technology? Are these students in demand by leading companies involved in computing?

The problem with most schools is that they depend on the money so much from their students that they turn their head the other way. Have you ever heard of anyone getting suspended from a school in the Philippines for cheating?

There may be some instances where this is not true but for the most part I believe that the level of education in the Philippines is very poor.

Maybe if the quality of grads was on par with other International Universities they would be able to get decent jobs!

It's better overall to have a surplus of people here with college educations than not. These are the generations that - with the help of the internet/social media, will eventually turn this country around as they unite online to get rid of corruption etc and stop the public from voting for under-qualified candidates. (someday)

Grace Poe's adverts during her recent senatorial campaign usually ended with the phrase, "Anak ni FPJ" (I'm the daughter of Fernando Poe Jr/movie star), after talking a lot in her advert about what a hero for the people her dad was in the movies; now she's running for president and leading the other candidates in recent polls.

I for one am very dissatisfied with national govt here after emailing the IPO office twice about the same subject, using an email address that actually used the director's ? name@yahoo.com or whatever and got no response. I tried to email PNoy about it but the Contact Us link on the President's website was dead.

I have a very good idea for a product line that is basically Dgte-specific, but I know it'd be copied within the week after its debut. The DTI office here says trademark disputes are handled by the Manila IPO office.. No enforcement would be coming from NBI/DTI locally. So it'd seem I'd have to wait on some lazy official in MNL to decide whether he's going to do his job or not.

Result, a business that could have contributed to the local economy never gets off the ground.

If any candidates bring their campaign to Dgte I'll try to get their view on the IPO office.
