    Likely not the Chinese or a terrorist attack. Just business as usual in the Philippines.

    Also:
    So you get a group of people sick from tainted food spread out over a large area and you arrest the vendors and not the suppliers or manufacturers. What sense does that make? What is more likely:
    1. All the vendors all part of some conspiracy to poison little children just for shits and giggles.
    2. The manufacturers were not following proper cleaning procedures in their factory (remember that they can't even get the proper paperwork done to legally operate the business).
    3. The suppliers were carrying the candy alongside dangerous chemicals or raw meat.
    I'm not saying that number 1 isn't possible....just the most unlikely of the 3.

    The stuff in the picture looks more like something you should chop up into lines and put up your nose than it does candy. And why are they first assuming it is a terrorist attack or the chinese when it clearly states (and looks like) it was made in a 3rd world country. My guess is that the manufacturer is Filipino and isn't following proper cleaning procedures in the factory. They likely didn't clean their equipment correctly or they used some chemicals they shouldn't have for cleaning food processing machinery.

    TANDAG CITY, Philippines – Some 1,081 high school and elementary students in Surigao del Sur were rushed to hospitals yesterday in an apparent poisoning after eating durian candies labeled “Wendy’s.”

    The same candy also downed 44 students in Kidapawan City, North Cotabato.

    In nearby Maguindanao province, 16 students were also treated for food poisoning after eating spoiled siopao sold inside the campus.

    Surigao del Sur Gov. Johnny Pimentel told The STAR that 438 victims of food poisoning were confined at the Adela Serra Ty Medical Center in Tandag while 139 were treated at the District Hospital in Marihatag, Surigao del Sur

    Information officer Marjorie Pagaran added that because of the number of students that were downed simultaneously, the Capitol social hall was opened for mass treatment. Most of the affected students are from public schools.

    Health units in Bayabas, Cantilan and Tago towns were also used for the treatment of more than 300 victims.

    Others were sent home after the initial treatment.

    Pagaran said they suspect that the durian candy, with a label that said it was made in Davao City, was laced with a poisonous substance. They sent samples to the Adela Serra Ty Medical Center for laboratory tests.

    In North Cotabato, the Catholic station dxND also reported the poisoning of at least 44 students of the Kidapawan City Pilot Elementary School.

    The students were rushed for treatment after they started vomiting and complained of painful abdominal spasms. They were reported to have also consumed Wendy's durian candy.

    “Some were writhing in pain while others ran to the comfort rooms,” said a mother whose daughter was among those taken to the hospital.

    Mayor Joseph Evangelista has dispatched social workers to provide services to the children and directed the health office to investigate.

    A public elementary school in Aleosan town, North Cotabato also reported a food poisoning case after students ate spoiled siopao that was reportedly sold by an ambulant vendor inside the school campus.

    Joel Calambro Sr., Dualing Elementary School principal, said 16 students were immediately rushed to government dispensaries when they complained of dizziness and painful abdominal spasms.

    In my hometown, 200 or more victims were admitted in our town hospital. Some people think it's a terrorist act, or chinese product were part on the contents of the candy.
