In Singapore they have a government organization called the Primary Production Dept.. they look after water leaks, illegal burning, and stray animals among other things.. When i worked in Loyang Offshore Base which was the dumping ground for "Christmas Puppys" that turned into unwanted dogs they had 3 Indian Lobourers who had a couple of old Lee Enfield 303"s. Crack shots at 500 ft. I asked where the dogs went and was told the Lions at the Singapore Zoo liked them,, imagine here it could be a Bario fiesta..

A few years back there was a team armed with high power air rifles around Agan An beach. They warned everyone to keep their dogs inside their land or else.
Around a week later the sound of popping and dogs dropping lasted about a week, since then there are more dogs running around half starved and full of mange. It's common to see dead dogs everywhere, that's one reason why I haven't walked my dog on the beach for a long time, the other reasons are those mangy muts constantly trying to fight my Rottweiler and the risk of what ever disease they are about to die from.-

I hope they have the proper tools to do this job,and these dogs are quick so can't se a very high success rate. Far better to use a tranquilizer gun or even better would be .45.
A couple of dogs opposite here who wander the streets every night causing mayhem and fighting with other dogs actually attacked a guy and kid on a bike the other day and again nothing was done. All pet dogs should be registered with the barangay which of course is never done.-

My 4 dogs are family, Philippines is close to number one for rabies. My Australian friend's daughter was attacked by there family puppy with rabies, So I'm an animal lover but there is something that should be done about the mange muts that are not cared for. When a dog drops dead no one will pay for an autopsy, so no one knows the actual the actual cause of death. That's why I don't walk my dogs too much any more. Sorry for typing through beer boggles...

Very good idea. If they run out of dogs they can check my street in Bacong, many lay in the middle of the road and don't want to move when you drive near them.

My gripe with the dogs is the rubbish strewn over the road the night before collection, those guys coming along picking it up in the morning have my sympathy and they never seem to complain either, the other thing that is not only in the Philippines is ,do you notice that the owner of a barking dog at night is the only one in the street that never seems to hear it?

I don't think the majority of Filipinos are what you would call 'dog lovers' ... The neighbor next door to the condo unit I live in has a dog that they just keep in a cage that is so small the dog can't hardly turn around in.
It's really heartbreaking that they keep that dog in there day in and day out ... All it does is bark all the time. My guess is that it has now gone crazy from it's very sad living conditions.
There are many Filipinos that keep dogs in very similar conditions.
No ... Most Filipinos are NOT real dog lovers ! !-

Many of these dogs have a family but are poorer families or sometimes lower class families that just let their dog roam around at night. I've seen around my ladies families house so many dogs and each one that hangs around that looks like a stray actually has a family that 99% of the time just ignore the dog. To bad instead of putting these dogs down you could find out who the owner is and put them down instead.
