FISHERMEN in El Salvador, Misamis Oriental reported seeing a torso being eaten by an undetermined number of sharks about 10 kilometers from the shore at about 11 in the morning Tueday.
Fernando Vincent Dy Jr., officer-in-charge of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), said they received reports from local fishermen at about 9 in the morning Tuesday and had proceeded to the general area where the torso was last seen but when they got there, sharks were already feeding on the remains.
The cause of death remains unclear, Dy said, but the group of fishermen who found the body said the torso was already without extremities when it was discovered floating in the open water.
