I got that once when I renewed my license in the old LTO office. Fixed it all, paid and submitted the documents. "For a while sir, we are offline. Please sit down and wait". I wait. And wait. After 30 min I ask how it's going. "Sorry sir, we are still offline". Wait and wait again. After one hour I again ask. "Sorry sir, we are still offline". I then ask when they expect to be back online. "Sorry sir, we don't know". So, I ask "How long has you been offline then?", "Oh sir, since last Wednesday".
    Palmface moment.

I like the bit "registration of old cars, complete with plates and stickers within 2 hours"
I do believe somewhere in the old thread a Dutch company had been awarded the contract to make the licence plates! So is the company based in the pi? Or will they have to just nip across the other side of the world to get a set of plates in a couple of hours!
It does make you wonder who dreams up this sh*t.

Keep telling people to stop worrying about it. Just consider what you pay for the plate a normal registration fee and forget about it. Just carry the registration papers and you will be good to go. The PNP/LTO officers know how screwed up the system is and won't impound a vehicle that does not have plates so long as everything was paid for and current.

Yes, I have same problem. Although I got all my LTO paperwork within 2 months no plate is forthcoming in the foreseeable future. I also renewed my drivers license and plates on my car back in July last year and have yet to receive anything other than paper stamped no license and no plate available. I won't lose any sleep over it. I have all the docs if they are too incompetent or stole all the money so they cannot provide basic simple plates and licenses it's their problem not mine. I also keep Xerox of same on me at all times as I will never release the original paperwork to anyone here for any reason even the LTO because you may never ever see it again.

Too often that means promoted, given a raise, and moved to another location. It is easier to promote bums out of your office than to fire them.

Manila -Nineteen employees of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Central Office in Quezon City, were removed from their posts because of the stolen metal plates for manufacturing number plates. The metal plates worth 4.5 million PHP were stolen during the Easter holidays and reported the theft on Monday the police. The LTO spokesman Jason Salvador says that the theft was probably an inside job.We have asked the Quezon City Police and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for help, says Salvador. The theft is the latest LTO confrontation against the criticized total 3.8 billion expensive vehicle registration standardization program.MIB 04/01/2016 - 2:45

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't stealing government property a crime? What ya wanna bet these employees file a case against the LTO for unlawful dismissal? Then again, being "removed from their posts" does not necessarily mean they were fired or let go.
