I find that avoiding women with children is a great way to minimize my chancing of hooking up with a married one. With most of them it only takes one glance at their tummy to determine if a kid has ever been in there. I've had a couple in the past where I would have been screwed if there was husband but I immediately call them out on their lie blatant lie and tell them to not come back or call me again. If they are willing to lie about having a child (something that is part of them and they should love unconditionally) there is absolutely nothing they won't be willing to lie about. I used to be more tolerant of that but that was back when I first got here and hadn't yet realized how easily replaced they were. Zero tolerance for liars these days. Tell the truth or GTFO, don't give a crap if it's a part of their "culture" or not.

As I understand the law, if the offended spouse files a complaint, the offended spouse must file a complaint against both their spouse and the person with whom the spouse cheated. Below, I attached a screen shot from the Mabuhay Law web site.
So, if a Filipino tries to threaten the foreigner with prison for fornicating with his wife, to be a credible threat the Filipino must also be willing to send his wife to prison for the same offense.
ChMacQueen, is this also the way you understand the law? Thanks.- Informative x 4

The way it worked for me to get married in the Philippines was as follows. Once we went through the tedious and arduous preliminary requirements to get married, the Dumaguete mayor married us in a ceremony in his office. We then had to take the contract we and he signed to the Civil Registry Office at the City Hall and get the marriage registration done. Once that paperwork was done, we had to take the paperwork to the Dumaguete NSO for national registration and marriage license request. About a month after we were married we finally were able to pick up the official marriage license at the NSO. That process seemed easy compared to the preliminary paperwork and approvals. Takes a lot of patience for a foreigner.

"if both are alive"
lol I think that's your hint that it is a really bad idea to screw a married person in the Philippines. Avoid it at all costs.- Agree x 2

Oddly the penalties are more severe for the female because she could become pregnant.

Actually, the last statement is not correct. I was married to a Filipina in the Philippines but divorced from her overseas. The registrar in the Philippines whose jurisdiction the marriage came under said that the divorce would be registered in the Philippines and that I and my ex wife were free to remarry.- Informative x 2
