Happened last night at Prime. The foreigner is alive and out of hospital already. I'm told the locals who attacked the foreigner were not stopped by the bouncers/security and Prime does not have cameras that cover the front door (in the outside smoking area) where the attack happened. Reason for the attack is unknown but the locals that assaulted him were asking for him by name inside the bar.
Local problem solving 101 = hit person in the head with bottle from behind then proceed to beat the crap out of them when they are on the ground unconscious.
Stay away from bars/clubs if you have drama in Dumaguete. It will eventually catch up with you and security/guards are not going to even try to assist you.....or they might even be the ones responsible for your hospital visit/funeral.

People need to accept that security, guards, bouncers and what not are NOT their to protect customers but to protect the business only. They are specifically told and trained never to get involved in a matter between customers and to just protect the business property. Further with how the laws are so backwater and corrupt here its very likely there has been plenty of lawsuits in the past against business's who had security interfere with stopping fights who one of those involved try and go after the business for money making claims of injury as the business's fault.

Perhaps a 'new age settler', who mistakenly believes this town is still the 'City of Gentle People'.

Also worth noting that nobody ever called or tried to notify the police. Luckily for the expat an owner of a different bar took the guy to the hospital.
