DUMAGUETE CITY — Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) have arrested a suspected courier for a drug syndicate operating inside New Bilibid Prison.
The suspect was identified as Genaro Amorin, 22, a local resident.
Novemar Hernandez, team leader of PDEA Negros Oriental, said Amorin was arrested in an entrapment operation at Barangay Taclobo here Saturday afternoon.
One kilo of what is believed to be shabu, worth an estimated P3.8 million, was retrieved from Amorin.
Hernandez said Amorin and his group had been under surveillance for some time because they were considered one of the main drug players in Negros Oriental.
He said the suspect was just one of the hired couriers of the syndicate, a member of which is detained at New Bilibid Prison.
Transactions were allegedly done through text messages and phone calls.
Amorin admitted he was paid P500 to deliver the package to a person whom he did not know, adding that the person who hired him also tapped minors to deliver packages to him. Suspected drug courier with P3.8M worth of shabu arrested in Dumaguete City
