Yeah, that's how these go. OP blazes through making a handful of posts over the course of a single day. One of those posts is borderline spam. Doesn't make a single reply in any of the posts. And one of the threads takes on a life of it's own with the expats talking to each other about subjects they already know about.
It's a good idea to glance over the history of the thread (pay attention to dates) as well as a quick assessment of the OP so that you know you aren't replying to a zombie or posting into an echo chamber.

When eating "foreigner" foods remember foreigners come from many locations, consequently the hamburger (goes for all dishes) at an American based/run place will taste totally different in a European based/run restaurant or a Filipino based/run restaurant. Do not expect your favorite dish to taste like you favorite dish at home, although sometimes it does happen.

I'd like to add Kri (on Siliman Ave.) to the list. A very interesting mix of local and international dishes, been there recently and will for sure come back.

Also Flip Flops, Lord Byron, Mooon Cafe, True Love & Jo's Chicken. These restaurants and the ones on the previous post are safe bets.

You should not miss "Cafe Mafioso" (Cafe Mafioso, Dumaguete City - Restaurant Reviews, Phone Number & Photos - TripAdvisor).
Excellent food with Ingridients which are not usually used in the Phils, even spicy food is to get there, marvellous!- Informative x 3

I like Casablanca's daily lunch specials and all their dinner selections, Pasta King's Chicken Parmigiana and pasta dishes, Mike's Beach Resort's Mexican food and burgers, and Why Not Pad Thai Noodle dish. Finally, an unnamed sports bar's affordable American breakfast.
We live by the Bacong fish market so most meals are home-cooked and come from there.- Informative x 2

Also see, "best dining, your opinions wanted..." Good suggestions there....
PS, i like Pasta King, been there a dozen times and only heard of air-con broken once, not a usual occurrence... Lantaw is one of my top 5...
Also, unless "fine dining" refers to overpriced, first world dishes, then many of the local dishes, like at lantaw, are really good, couldn't begin to list, adobo, humba, bistek, kaldareta (beef, goat is marginal), all the stew dishes;...At least better on average than British food ?? (apologies to the Brits among us, welcome to disagree). The first place i ever tasted adobo was 30 years ago at the US Coast Guard center in Alameda California, all the restaurant staff was Filipino, been one of my favorite dishes every since. Two years ago discovered Humba, slightly different sauce...- Informative x 2

Brian Oinks That's Mr. Pig to you Boy! :) Highly Rated Poster
DON'T look at it! Just peel the top, drink the juice, then add some vinegar and salt, slurp that down, then peel the shell, pop the lot into your mouth and CHEW! The white is hard like rubber (IMHO the worst part of eating Balut) but it tastes EXACTLY like a boiled Egg with a sliver of chicken breast meat in the middle! VERY YUMMY I KID YOU NOT!!- Agree x 1
