We pump the water, it is extremely clean and I also drink it with out ever experiencing any side effects as it is filtered through the sand before it enters the well via the hollow block walls, we then fill the tubes directly, tie the end with a double knot, freeze, then sell for 2 pesos each... (Locals are selling for 2.5/3p ea) IF we could full fill the required amount of Ice tubes needed/asked for daily here, we could easily pay our current monthly electricity Bill 6+x over as we know of 2 guys asking for 100 tubes a day each... of course, add another Freezer = added running costs, but asawa is happy she is doing something that can earn her more a day than when she was working 12 hours a day at the Internet cafe, "Happy Wife = Happy Life"...

another idea to keep the ice tubes from freezing together would be to layer them with sheets/matts of the green screen/chicken wire you see at ag and building material stores. i would try the smallest mesh...

You may be Packing them Too tight and the Freezing is conductive through the Wraps rather than Air freeze, we find leaving a small air Gap between the wraps helps a great deal, also try and Lay them all the Same way and try and get them to the lay in the Joint of the wraps underneath where they meet as if laying Bricks, We get ours in 2 days some days quicker

Congratulations Mr. Pig, you finally found something that I know nothing about. However, my wife knows this ice trade well. She says that the ice bags are not easy to break. She uses a different bag for making ice than for the tubig machine. The tubig bag is very thin and "easy to break". The ice bag is thicker and not easy to break. I don't know if you are using ice bags or water bags but this is the only suggestion that I have.

Easy Brian, get some Laminate Card and line the Sides Bottom and back. we did this and you would be surprised how it keeps the Freezer Cleaner and easier to Clean after breakages. the Base sheet can be removed to clear of any Ice left.

We buy the tubes from Hypermart or locally here in Zamboanguita if they have in stock, interesting to know there is a difference between Tubig and Ice Tubes, will look into that, thank you for raising this.

Hmm... Just asked the wife and she says we are using the Ice tubes not the Tubig tubes so back to square one. :banghead:

A good point and this seems an interesting science project for Brian - to find out by experimentation what is the best solution in the circumstances. I know nothing about making these ice tubes and the practicalities or economics of various methods of stopping them sticking together, but I am thinking along the lines of separating them with oil by rubbing a thin layer over each tube or trying cling film as a separating sheet (I know this might reduce air flow, but it is only an experiment to find out). I am sure there are many other materials you could try (only needs to be on a very small scale at first) and a positive result could be rewarding for Brian and others who are trying to do something for themselves and others.
